Matt Kemp Possibilities

I think his uptick in motivation will allow him to outperform his projections this year. The two projection systems have him valued at 0 WAR in a healthy, 600 PA season. I'd say he has a 50% chance of being a 1 WAR player, and maybe a 25% chance of being a 2 WAR player. We stand a decent chance of seeing him earn the $8.5m offset we are effectively paying him this year.
 
Are we using BA, HR and RBI to evaluate a player now? Is it 1983 again?

I can see him hitting 35 HRs with an OPS of ~.800 though, and average base running (25 SBs is laughably optimistic).

No matter how well he hits, his defense will be so utterly putrid he won't be worth more than 1 win in total.

I also think the slightly smaller park will help push Kemp's WAR total over 1 for the year. Honestly, I am just ready for some baseball to start playing.

I have debated on getting the MiLBtv package. Anyone can confirm if it is worth it?

I have enjoyed it. The main issue I have is that I live in NC and a lot of the games are blacked out.

Agreed. Even with his significantly improved offense in Atlanta, he was worth 0 WAR in his time here last year. You're going to have to see either a jump to near-peak Kemp offensively, or you're going to have to see a significant improvement in his defense. I'm not sure either is likely.

I don't really care. I check bWAR, so that's the one I went with it. The worst that can happen is I have a signature that makes me look dumb and I do a good job of that myself haha
