Maybe I missed an update or post but does anyone know how his weight loss is coming this offseason?

If he plays like he did in the 2nd half all of next year then he will be doing good work for us.

I think the FO is hoping he can put up an .850+ OPS this season. If so, he will bring back a nice return from an AL club..even with his salary. We could eat some to sweeten the deal.. I just see them waiting until next off season to try and trade him.

Even with his bad defense he would still be a 2 WAR player with an 850 OPS. Going to an AL team and DHing would actually improve his value too. I do doubt he's an 850 OPS bat for a full year but we will see.

I'll believe that when I see it

I doubt he hits that well. But if he does the fo will talk about his intangibles and protecting ff.

I don't think they'll flip him. Even if they have the chance

There would be no sense in trading him if he is productive as he was in the second half last year. That type of bat is what we lack in the upper levels of the farm.

Historically, .850 isn't even a reach. I think it's pretty realistic. But I don't think they'll flip him and I don't think they should. He's a legit hitter even if his defense is short.

Yeah, let's get rid off him because he is too fat. Just because he will probably lead the team in home runs and RBI is NO reason to keep him around...sheesh.

He played in the two worst hitters parks in baseball last year. Exactly why is that not possible??

There are plenty of, to borrow a Bowman-ism, reasons to believe that Kemp will hit next year. In the first half last year his BABIP was .285 which was probably at least 30 points lower than it should have been. So he did have a little bad luck. However, in the second half his BABIP was .315, a completely sustainable number. One below his career norm actually (.340 for his career). So it's not like Kemp's second half .906 OPS was entirely luck based.

I agree that an .850 OPS this year isn't a reach at all. It's perfectly reasonable.

Also, I think the defensive stuff is overblown. If he were in right or center he'd be a huge liability. But we can take that hit in left.

I think it is realistic to hit .850 What % chance.. I don't know, but I would say .800 is more likely. However, I do think they will try and flip him this off season. His 18 million could easily buy a replacement that is younger and better.
