Maybin To The Tigers

Wouldn't Maybin at least brought back something better last season around the trade deadline for a team that was looking to fill a need at an outfield position, or depth, or platoon or something? No, that's right we were trying to win. Nevermind
 
Now how could anyone possibly think the Braves are tanking next season? Just look at those All-Stars the Braves just got for that scrub Maybin!
 
pretty Meh trade.....hate to lose Maybin, but the addition of Bourn made it necessary.

I'm not acting like Maybin was this great player by any means but wtf is the point of this deal? Krol could be a good reliever but isn't keeping Maybin slightly better?

This is obviously a move intended simply to save money, it's doubtful we'll use that money anywhere else this year. It'll be interesting to see what we say, if anything, about it.

they had to make a move somewhere I am assuming. and no one was going to take bourn/swisher without a big portion of the cash being paid for. so now you trade Maybin, let bourn man centerfield, then hand it over to Mallex later this season
 
Pointless deal. Everyone is touring this as a salary dump, but why on earth do we need to dump salary for this season?

At least we got some pitching though. Needed some of that.

Yep, agreed.

Plus, it seems like if we're trying to work out a deal with a team not as concerned with payroll, a pretty good 4th OF is not a bad piece to throw on top of the deal as a sweetener.

Nah

Put Mallex in CF Bourn in LF and Markakis in RF. Lets us test out to see if Mallex is legit or not. Hopefully Bourn shows some signs of life and we can get out from under him. And we're stuck with Markakis.

Plus we will get to see if Toscano is the real deal or not. Guy has major upside
 
Going back where he was drafted.

Better not be sending much cash if the only return we got was 2 fringe bullpen prospects. I didn't figure Maybin had a ton of value, but he was a good clubhouse guy who wanted to be here and was somewhat valuable last year.

Seems we're clearing a lot of cash. You have to ask yourself why?
