MCU Thread (Spoilers inside)

Anthony Mackie as the New Cap didn't work. His character was more of a sidekick before Endgame and then they thrust him into the Captain America role where he really doesn't fit. They should have just buried the Captain America role after Endgame and moved on to something else. I thought the Hawkeye TV show was a good "retirement" to close out the Hawkeye character. They should have done the same after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Or at least leaned more into the story arc of the Falcon and Winter Soldier teaming up.

And the box office results seem to back up the theory that people just don't want to see Anthony Mackie as the new Cap. As it stands, they will be lucky to break even on the film.

I get that the MCU has the Fantastic Four and X-Men coming up, but they really need to do a reset of the entire MCU within 10 years. They've jumped the shark at this point.

I don't really care about what Mackie's role was before. He's a great actor who deserved a bigger piece of the pie. But I also don't really care about the MCU continuity.

I think you're right that the bloat is too much. We're going on like 20 years almost now of content and I feel like we should expect stuff to reboot. Like I wish they'd just James bond it. Chris Evans was Captain America for 5 movies, now Ansel Elgort gets to be him for 5 movies, so on so forth. Obviously there's fun in seeing players play roles they're amazing at like RDJ with Tony Stark. But it's less fun seeing actors age and their performances get more wooden as they physically can't do things they could do 10 years ago.

I know superhero movies and extended universes are becoming a bit burnt out, but I really want to see James Gunn do the DC universe correctly. The Death of Superman and the Rise of the Supermen story line is pretty much my favorite comic book series. I want to see a proper build up to Doomsday and an entire movie dedicated to all the Earth's mightiest heroes teaming up to take on Doomsday, with the death of Superman at the end. And then you could have a Rise of the Supermen movie with John Henry Irons, Superboy, Hank Henshaw, and the Eradicator, with Clark Kent returning from the dead at the end of the movie.

So that's a huge cast for the next avengers movie. I have an idea of what they are going to do. Would be epic if they can pull it off.

I assume they're going to break it up among 2. Where the blending of multiverse happens in Doomsday to conclude in Secret Wars.

There's 2 unannounced movies before Secret Wars, what they will be who knows. Blade has been announced with no release date, Black Panther 3 is supposedly being written, X-Men movie (though I fully expect that to come out in Phase 7 as it's first tent pole), Shang Chi 2, etc. But that was from last year so maybe they killed those films and are just going smaller release numbers.

Damn Daredevil Born again was really good. I know most of the awesomeness was the original awesome casting. But the finale getting to see Charlie Cox, Debra Ann Woll, Vincent D'Ornofrio, and Jon Bernthal are all killing it. Like they're at that RDJ is Tony Stark level to me. And I don't want them in a movie. I dont' want their character driven drama ruined by the constraints of an MCU film. I don't need light hearted jokes.
