#Royals have signed former Braves RHP Kris Medlen. Had TJ surgery last March. Was 15-12 with 3.11 ERA in 2013. Was 10-1, 1.97 in 2012

2 year deal with option for a 3rd

Really hope Kris beats the odds and has a long career. Easily one of my favorite recent Braves.

Edited with financial terms, which include significant incentives.

Source: Medlen two-year deal with #Royals worth $8.5M - $2M, $5.5M plus $10M mutual option with $1M buyout if either party declines.

Wish him all the best. My favorite pitcher the last few years when he was on. Even over Kimbrel.

Wood is my new favorite atm but when Kris was in Maddux-Mode it was a thing of beauty.

I wish Medlen the best and I thought Atlanta's offer to him was more than fair given the situation. I still hope we re-sign Beachy on a deal for around 1 million. Plus I hope they offer Venters a minor league deal too where he can try to rehab with the Braves organization. Venters deserves at least that much because the crazy workload we put on him is why his career is likely over.

Oh man, what a sad and happy day. Glad Medlen is getting his shot but sad I won't see him pitch in a Braves uniform anymore.

Glad he is going to a great organization.

2012 he was pitching like an ace. I think some forget how untouchable he was over a stretch.

He was pretty untouchable the last 10 weeks of 2013 as well.

He was not overrated. He was my favorite pitcher that I liked watching for some time, an elite ace no....but a low end #1 high end #2 that could beat the elites on any given night.

Guy was a stud and carried us for periods of time.

I'll miss you Kris, true professional and a bulldog, and wish you nothing but the best going forward.

I'll miss the guy. The man was just a great picture. He was't over powering, but he put the ball where he wanted. We will miss him, trust me on that. Good for him, though!

Hate seeing him go, but happy someone has taken him up.

Kris was our pitchers version of Martin Prado, who I'll still take back btw.

All because of one great stretch over two years...other than that fragile. Now if he would have put up 3 to 4 seasons then maybe. He's one of those guys I have no idea where all the high expectations came from. Like Brad Woodall, Tarrell Wade, etc.
