Megathread: Braves lose Maitan, Bae and 10+ plus International Sanctions.

So what if they slipped Maitan an extra million or two? The Braves intentionally blew through their cap number in 2016, so I don't know how MLB could come down on the Braves for this unless they physically threatened the scouts from other teams with severe bodily harm if they approached Maitan. Maitain publicly turned down an offer from the Nats (I think it was the Nats) that far exceeded what the Braves ended up signing him for.

International market is a cesspool that is often dependent on the relationship established between area scouts, players, coaches, and other handlers.

As for the domestic draft, they did have that snafu involving Josh Anthony in 2016 where they tried to move money around illegally, so that might lead to some other issues.

If Snitker isn't brought back or decides not to return, this mess may scare away a bigger name manager possibility. About the best we could hope for is perhaps Dave Martinez.

If bundling is the issue, it more likely has to do with the current signing period (when we are under the 300K restriction).

It's clear that this FO is not looking for any young guys who anyone into analytics. They need to go with the Cubs duo of McLeod and Martinez, but that would make too much sense.

It'll either be Jennings or Moore for GM.

Snitker will keep his job, or they will try to lure Ned Yost or hire Ron Washington from within.

The most hilarious thing will be if nothing much comes of these allegations, but Coppy was fired anyways.

It would definitely be the most damning outcome, but also ideal at this point. If we can get out of this with our farm intact, it will be a win.

Seems odd to me that an owner like liberty media would allow payments under the table. If there were payments off the books, wouldn’t this turn more into an fbi case than mlb?

Payments that were not reported to MLB and therefore not used in calculating the penalties for going over the alloted amount. That might be the issue. Unreported payments. I'm sure the bookkeepers at Liberty knew what was paid. The question might be was it properly reported to MLB.

I find it extremely unlikely that any of this stuff went down without Hart and JS knowing. If they knew about it, they would be gone too. Since they aren't gone, and therefore didn't know about it, there really only leaves one possible scenario...it isn't as bad as it's being portrayed.

We already have one Passan tweet stating MLB has found very little evidence to support the allegations.

Most likely this crap started from within the Braves FO due to all the infighting. Some pissed off anti-Coppy employee snitched. Coppy realized he was in a no win situation and resigned.

Old school wins.

Remember, MLB has a business to run, and it doesn't help business to give the Braves the "death penalty". I could see them putting restrictions on upcoming drafts for sure though.

I can't imagine proper reporting when you're already over the line is a massive deal. The appropriate penalty would seem to be a fine.

With the bundling, it sounds like the infraction was not so much the amount of money siphoned down, but the timeline (before the signing period).

Why the Dayton Moore hate? Have we forgotten he got the Royals a World Series? How many other GMs have won a title in one of MLBs smallest markets the last decade?

Have you ever seen this board happy with any decision?

I have no opinion on Moore.

It took him 10 years and he still only got two years worth of contention. And in the meantime he made plenty of questionable moves.

There's also the fact that he left that organization an SVOD.

So you want the Braves to follow the lucky sequencing model to win a championship?

Seems like a solid plan!
