Megathread: Braves lose Maitan, Bae and 10+ plus International Sanctions.

The 2018 payroll will tell us all we need to know.

Of course, your head will still be in the sand no matter what the figure is haha.

If it drops back to 100 million, I'll consider the possibility, but I am much more interested in the balance sheet.

I think they will carry about the same payroll they did last year.

Anyone else think baseball's prohibition on big news until after the World Series is ridiculous? They're concerned about the focus being taken off the World Series. First, it's a 24 hour sports news cycle now. There's plenty of time for the World Series to be analyzed to death. But more importantly, if there's other baseball news going on, you keep the spotlight on baseball and there tends to be a synergy with these things.

If your team isn't in the playoffs, you might shift your focus to football during the playoffs. However, if there's still all kinds of news happening with your team, you pay more attention to the news. In doing this you'll catch World Series recaps coverage by default. Maybe those storylines start gaining your interest.

I just think if you shut down all news for majority of markets during the playoffs, it makes it that much easier for those markets to just zone out for the playoffs.

I could care less at this junction whether or not we lose Maitan as it appears that he's going to be a bust. We solve that problem pretty quickly by signing the guy from Baltimore next offseason.

This is the quickest a generational talent has been written off in the history of baseball fandom.
