Smoke? What smoke?

So, identity for you, but not for others. Reason is your sole domain,

Just like punch-an-antifa is ok, but punch-a-nazi isn't. You never addressed that one, either.

I'm strongly against identity politics when it comes to race, gender, etc of any color or shape. When it comes to actual ideas, then yes, I support reason.

I only believe you have a right to punch antifa if they punch you or if there's a reasonable threat, just as I feel with the nazis. I think there are a significant amount of young ANFIFA folks who are misguided, just as I think there are a lot of young White supremacists who are misguided. But if there's a gang with the intent to cause violence then they need to be shut down.

I think he'd rather do that than admit to a "liberal" that he was wrong.

I'm not saying that Trump was right to do this, but he was clearly playing the game that was defined before he took office. You wouldn't be pointing this out if Hillary won. A teaching moment for all of us.

So the question that naturally follows is whether there are "actual ideas" and "reason" that underpin what you call identity politics.

So if a Latino immigration reform activist objects to the status quo because undocumented immigrants provide cheap and dispensible labor without being provided the security and protections of citizenship, that's merely "identity politics"? Or if BLM objects to a criminal justice system that stacks the deck against non-whites (per the DOJ report on Ferguson or consent decrees in many cities), that's based on "identity politics" and not ideas and reason?

If a gay couple can provide a stable and loving home for an adopted child but local laws attempt to prevent them from adopting, is that based on "ideas" or identity politics? If a woman demands a workplace environment free from sexual harassment or a transgender soldier wants to be able to do a job that they're qualified to do, is that merely "identity politics" or is it underpinned by reason?

That quote was not directed to you. Not sure what you're talking about.

I disagree with you that I wouldn't be critical of a Dem and I'm sure there are plenty of posts here that bear that out. Was never a fan of Hillary although I think the blind bashing of her is way over the top.
