It's to protect against tyranny which is perpetrated by those that don't follow the founding principles so it makes perfect sense.

Of all the dumb places the gun debate goes, this might be the dumbest.

What weapons can an individual possess that will protect him from "tyranny"? Should an individual be allowed to own weapons that could legitimately protect him from the government? What does that look like, I wonder? What does "tyranny" look like, for that matter? Some people would argue that we're already there, so does that mean that we should be able to pop shots at the cops and the feds when we think we're being oppressed? I need someone to game this one out for me.

Oh darn the quote police got me.

It's a sentiment that I agree with, regardless.

Yes, that's been your reasoning on previous occasions, too.

I'll leave you with a couple of my favorite quotes:

"Libertarians are congenital dinguses and habitual paste-eaters from whose company decent men should shrink."

-Benjamin Franklin

"People who use fabricated quotes from the nation's founders to assume the mantle of moral authority for their eccentric belief systems should be relentlessly mocked by their peers for a period of time suitable to engender honest reflection."

-James Madison

Are these legitimate quotes? Who can say? I certainly agree with their sentiment, though.

Out of curiosity though, if the quotes were legit, would that change your opinion on you agreeing with the sentiment?

If not, why do you care? If so, I have many real quotes to post for you
