Democrat Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy is alarmed by the radical socialist policies being championed by members of her own party. Murphy did not name names, but was clearly referring to newbie Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
"I am offended by this whole conversation about socialism," Murphy said, as reported by the Washington Examiner. "The idea that in the greatest democracy -- the greatest capitalist system in the world -- we’re having casual conversation about socialism, offends me."
Murphy, the first Vietnamese-American woman in Congress, says growing up in socialist Vietnam gave her firsthand experience of the failures and horrors of socialism.
'Capitalism Built the Greatest Nation in the World'
Murphy recounted that after she and her family immigrated to the United States, they mailed her relatives back in Vietnam medicine and bandages because those items were not available there.
"[Capitalism] is the system that built us the greatest nation and the greatest economy in the world, Sure, we have to fix the inequities that exist in our system.
But this is not the moment to undo the whole system and embrace something that Americans have spent blood and treasure fighting to save other countries from."
