How much do they honestly think they are going to be able to collect from this capital gains tax? There are a little over 10k people in the US that have a net worth over 100 million. Even if you were able to get all of them to pay an average of 10 million extra in taxes (which, let's be honest, seems extremely unlikely in the first place, as they have an army of accountants to get around it) best case scenario, you're looking at an extra 100 billion dollars a year in taxes. That's less than 2 % of the federal spending in 2023.

How the **** is that supposed to do anything but make liberals feel better because the filthy rich are slightly less filthy rich?

News flash: a lot of politics these days is about being able to feel better about something without effecting any sort of material change.

Then the city council meeting pleading with leadership to do something is worse
 
I've seen young Chinese immigrant girls in Japan taking carp from neighborhood creeks just before dawn, and then carrying it back to their apartments. Weird things happen.

Granted, I wouldn't eat carp (and not just because it's my SN), but I also wouldn't eat chitlins, pigs feet, or cow tongue. That doesn't mean it's abnormal.

I guess you could call it fishing but it's all done by hand. For the sake of your reading comprehension, the phrase, "Weird things happen," means what may seem odd to some, is really quite common.

Only had chitlins a few times, but pigs feet and cow tongue are regular dishes at this house.
