57, it seems you don't understand libertarian philosophy at all.

I know it's fun and easy to just say we hate poor people. But more rational and intelligent posters (see 50 pound head) understand we simply believe there are better ways of helping.

But hey, if you want to use Hurricane Katrina as your example on why government is the best solution for disaster help, please be my guest

Correct me if I'm wrong, but under the Libertarian model basic social services would still exist but the opt-in methodology greatly differs from our current structures. For example, emergency rescue apparatuses would remain in place if an individual chose to pay for them, either as a part of community or smaller union. Almost akin to a HOA. In theory this is more efficient because you aren't being forced to pay into things you may not require or deem necessary. Essential civic utilities such as emergency services would hypothetically survive because, for example, you might have a difficult time acquiring homeowners insurance if you don't have the 'fire safety' package.

Ostensibly this would lead to more competition in both the insurance and emergency services markets as customers are free to shop around for what best suits/accommodates them individually.

why would you think privatizing first responders would succeed where privatizing prisons has been an abject failure ?

would you be in favor of privatizing police ?

are you in favor of outside contract secutity aplying to military and diplomatic missions ?

I'm actually not in favor of what I explained, I'm just trying to help you understand how it would work.

What I can tell you is that privatizing prisons has nothing to do with privatizing emergency services.

I realize that you are comfortable propping up private prisons as your punching bag because it has been in the news recently ... but come on.

Don't you think that contract security might have prevented Benghazi?

If one more person goes to the trouble of explaining the "Libertarian Model" to me . I will holler :)

The concept of privatization (like the concept of Marxism) is flawed. The prisons being an example. Working in an arm of state government with my eyes I see not only the physical inefficiency, lack of accountability and the predicted cost reductions that rarely materialize

I realize that you are comfortable propping up private prisons as your punching bag because it has been in the news recently ... but come on.
I have been opposed to prison for profit long before it became the punching bag du jour. This is not a new concept

What did the Benghazi Commission Report say?
I really have no idea

Libertarian ism is nothing more than post 1932 Hooverism.
Scrap the New Deal and labor unions at any cost
etc etc etc

That my friend is how-why and raison d'etre of (L)

They don't hate poor people as another explained - they just don't ... acknowledge there is such a thing.
Doesn't fit the world view

Don't you think that contract security might have prevented Benghazi?

maybe

but do you think the Ambassador would have employed them?

knowing his views on how he wanted things done by locals and his love for Libya and being a believer of the people etc etc

i don't think he would have employed em

The entire Republican party is a scam to lower its billionaire donors' taxes and let them destroy our climate. But let's worry about optics.
...

I would add their little brother
