Well yes, Obama acknowledged people brought over involuntarily and said immigrants in their own way, Carson didn't acknowledge the involuntary aspect, and implied that slaves made money for being slaves.

I'm glad you're outing yourself as a Breitbart reader though.

As an aside, Hess is an interesting character. He's the one who defected from Germany to Great Britain (by flying across the channel and crashing his plane in Scotland) and claimed Hitler had given him permission to secretly negotiate an armistice. There's a great deal of lore surrounding whether or not Hess (who, as the meme infers, was one of Hitler's most loyal and most ardent leftenants) went to Britain by himself or whether Hitler actually did send him. Hess' defection was early days in the war - prior to Germany invading the Soviet Union - and depending on which story you believe, either Hess let it slip that Hitler planned to take Moscow (which Churchill then relayed to Stalin), or Churchill and Hess entered into a secret truce which would have allowed the Germans to invade the USSR without British aggression on the Western front (presumably in exchange for future guarantees of some sort).

In any event, the official story is that Hess was 'concerned' with Hitler's invasion plans and felt he was in the position to speak on behalf of Germany in making peace, so he defected. That plan was ultimately rebuffed by the British government because they didn't believe he had the authority to negotiate on behalf of Hitler and Hess was subsequently imprisoned. Suffice it to say, given Hess' position in the Reich, demonstrated obsession with Hitler, and the fact that Germany was kicking ass at the point in the war during which he defected makes the story ... questionable. Add to that the rumors that Mussolini was executed by British special forces at the end of the war because he possessed documents (passed on from Hitler after he liberated Mussolini from the partisans in Northern Italy) which incriminated Churchill, as well as the curious way Hess died (in his mid-nineties, many years later, back in East Berlin [held by the Soviets] at Spandau prison, somehow hung with an extension cord) and you have yourself one of the war's more fun alternative history theories to chew on.

I remember reading about it as kind of a well-intentioned but naive attempt to ensure a free hand in the east by making peace with what he saw as a natural ally against the Commies.

Also, if the histories are to be believed, they did warn Stalin, but he was too paranoid (about Churchill's motives) to believe it...just not paranoid enough, it turns out, about his Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact "allies."

Stalin was also forewarned by a Soviet spy stationed in Tokyo, so his paranoia truly must have been off the charts (would explain his purported 'mental breakdown' about a week into the German invasion) because the Soviets were initially stunned by the move.

The Nazis maintained all of the public appearances of an alliance until the very end, even sending a field marshal (I believe) to Moscow to participate in a military parade a few days before troops crossed over.

To sum up... the left want people to be forced to pay for care for others.

This is a loss of liberty - which they have acknowledged that they do not care about.

I fundamentally disagree - and thus we will never agree

Tell me again how insurance works ---

Driving many many years -never a claim
Home and Fire -- never a fire or a claim

Loss of liberty. Mortgage holders force me to have home insurance
State requires me to carry auto insurance.

Mortgage companies are for the most part funded by insurance industry.
It is a fact the insurance industry funds state governments (you can look it up)

I'm afraid you lost your precious naive fantasy of liberty long before ACA

Tell me again how insurance works ---

I absolutely understand how it works, 57. A group of people pool their money to make reduce the risks of claims.

The problem is when you introduce a mandate or single payer - thus FORCING people to participate in something they may not want.

This is a loss of liberty. I don't supper that. You do. Let's move on.

Your side will eventually win because this country has been molded to despise personal accountability.
