You don't think it's wrong to criminalize charging for something that is free to give away? As with drugs most of the problems associated with prostitution are the results of the black market creates by prohibition of prostitution. Regulated prostitution is safer for the prostitute, the client, and everyone around them. All e idemce shows that When men have access to prostitutes and/or porn they rape a lot less. When you boil it all down you are paying for sex one way or the other.

Freedom ist just being allowed to make government approved decisions. I am still a long way from my law degree but I hope we have settled this pot thing by the time I do. If so I will turn my attention to changing public perception of prostitution and legalizing it.

It's one of the places pure libertarianism fails me, I feel like morally reprehensible things should not be condoned. At the same time, I probably overemphasize the personal responsibility part, and I feel like part of this overlaps. I think we should be able to expect a few basic things from everyone. Brush your teeth. Pay your bills. Clean up after yourself. Don't rape people.

wow, you are the first to bring up "personal responsibility" in the age of Trump

I love it when people talk about the "morality"
as if ....

I used to vote for mostly Democrats. I take responsibility for helping elect Bill Clinton.

I've been clear on here before about what I think the greatest moral deficiency in this country is, and it's the reason I can't in good conscience vote for any Democrats now. Reasonable people can and should disagree on those things, but I assure you that morality is the deciding factor of my vote.

Don't think for a minute I was happy about Trump being the Republican nominee, or that I don't dislike many things about him. He wouldn't be allowed in my house if he knocked on my door tonight. But I am mostly in agreement with him from a policy standpoint.

What is and isn't morally reprehensible is a matter of perspective. The constitutional way to look at it is wether prostitution deprives anyone of their rights. If it's not violating anyone's rights then you can not like it all you want but have no right to incarcerate consenting adults. It's not the act you find reprehensible it's just the bias you were indoctrinated with from birth that women having multiple sex partners is immoral. That literally goes against science. The penis head is shaped liked the way it is because it is supposed to scrape out the seen of other males.

that is reassuring.
Isn't there an overlap in a persons essence and the policies that formed out of that essence ?

Mussolini after all had the trains running on time

Not legislating something is not condoning it. We can't legislate morality... that has to come from the individual.

Prostitution of course should be legal as long as it's consensual. That doesn't mean I support it

I agree that the federal government is not given the right to prohibit prostitution. I even agree with you in a theoretical sense that it probably should be legal from an individual freedom perspective. And you are correct that I find women (or men) having multiple sex partners immoral. We moved past needing to scrape out seed (yuck) a long time ago, although we are certainly morally backsliding at a troublesome pace on that issue. Common morals are a bedrock of a stable society, which is why we see our own nation in it's current turmoil, and such a failure of integration going on in Europe right now.

What do you think about this? I have a dream that someday all men shall have the right to get their rocks off no matter their outward appearance or disability. If I can be serious for a minute, I think a lot of violence is done by sexually frustrated men and if we started thinking if it more as a neccesary bodily function we might make a dent in mental health crisis that is developing in this country. What's wrong with a straight A student who can't get laid getting his winky whacked at a rub and tug.
