This recent flap about "civility" has got me thinking a lot about Dr. King, and the way in which his life and legacy have been sanitized, and all of the rough, uncomfortable edges sanded off. King and his cohorts who struggled, were jailed, bled, and died in the name of justice were criticized along similar lines, often simply so disengaged parties could feel comfortable in their own complicity. We only honor his legacy if we keep that in mind.

That Rick Scott thing blows my mind. It was, and may still be, the biggest Medicare fraud case in history. That he was elected Governor after and is now running for Senate says a lot about where we are.
