Meme & Quote Thread

lol.

so you just found an article that agrees with you. have no idea why it agrees with you. The SPM is absolutely, 100% the right way to measure poverty. And guess what, the liberal circus of California has the poorest citizens in the union thanks to all their compassion.

you are fine with being willfully ignorant.

it's so pathetic how the left has let itself become so stupid when it comes logic and math.

SPM is one way of measuring poverty.

you seem to ignore Drum has a list of reasons (data ?) where SPM doesn't tell the whole story.
It is the whole story we want. Right?
Forrest and trees ...

Drum adds:

Oh, right: housing. California has the fourth-highest housing prices in the nation, and the SPM incorporates housing prices in its estimates. Are California’s high housing prices due to restrictive land-use regulation? Sure, that’s some of it. But I don’t know of any evidence that California is wildly out of the ordinary on this measure, and at this point I’m too tired to look for it. If you want to argue that California should have looser land-use regulations, go for it.² I won’t argue.

There’s a whole cottage industry on the right dedicated to the proposition that California is a hellhole. Why? Because California is the most liberal state in the nation, and the existence of a high-tax, high-service state that nonetheless has a great economy is an affront to their principles. And yet, California’s economy is doing fine:

Going back to the original premise, fiscally conservative / socially liberal:
I think the phrase an oxymoron --- you can't be both
Which is to my mind the point of the meme.

You have still managed to not explain WHY you can't be both. And I love your author saying "uhh I guess housing is a factor.. and I'm uhh too tired to look up why our regulations make housing go up"

That's some great data there.

I am happy to claim that being fiscally liberal keeps poor people poor. I am willing to back that up with data. California is a good start

Are you willing to back up your claim? No? Ok then
The meme is utterly stupid
