Michael Harris II

“Chipper told me it’s better to swing up to down than down to up, so being up there is a good thing. And I feel like everything’s been a lot cleaner since then and I haven’t had to think as much.”
“It felt a little weird, like my hands were way higher than they actually were, because my hands were down for the past three years."
“We were trying to find something and trying to get those hands in the right spot. And ultimately it came down to me just saying, all right, I’m just going to raise them up. It can’t hurt. I was doing it my whole life, so if I made the change to moving down after getting called up, why not be able to go back up now?”

Why is Chipper always the one to fix our hitters?
Bc the players trust him more than the hitting coaches. I'm just glad he's on our side. Harris has all the potential in the world and there was MVP talk coming into the season and it looks like he's figured it out. I just hope it carries over to next year.

Because he's one of the best hitters to have ever lived and seems to be able to communicate in a way that others understand? A rare gift to be able to do both. Braves just need to make him a coach already.
Probably doesn’t want to be full time.

Just give him stake in the Braves.

It's funny that Chipper can seemingly see and correct issues with peoples swings. Yet as great of a hitter as he was he sometimes couldn't do it for himself and needed his dad to correct a thing or two.

He said it'd take up to much time. Plus he's an icon in the organization and probably doesn't wanna tarnish that and I don't blame him. Just help out when you can to help guys out. If he became a coach and the team start to suck people would get out their pitchforks so don't blame him for saying no thanks.

You know, the less I hear about Chipper being around the hitters, the worse the offense seems to be. Like last year...I don't remember seeing anything like Chipper working with Riley, or anyone else.

How much of the offensive success has been due to Chipper coaching the hitters? And why can't the 3 hitting coaches on the payroll fix anything, but Chipper can just walk in, tap someone on the shoulder, and suddenyl they start mashing?

At some point AA probably needs to just make Chipper the highest paid hitting coach in the game, even if he doesn't travel with the team full time, and end this 3 ineffective coaches madness. The single act of fixing Harris is easily worth a few million bucks all on its own.

Last year I don’t believe he was with the team at all for various reasons.

It seems like a no-brainer. Give him the title and the salary, and tell him ahead of time he's only got to go on the road a couple of times per year plus playoffs. We already carry multiple hitting coaches, so it's not like the team would be missing out on some key administrative details with respect to the hitters.

For whatever reason the guy is a hitting savant. Take advantage of the resource.

Supposedly Hyers was trying to get Harris to change his stance a lot earlier but Harris wasn't receptive. So there is probably some trust issues there with Hyers being the new guy. Or maybe Hyers just couldn't explain it as well as Chipper, who knows more about hitting than probably anyone else associated with the Braves franchise.

If a local financial consultant gave me some good financial advice and stocking trading tips, it might go in one ear and out the next. But if Warren Buffett came up to me and gave me the exact same advice, I'd probably listen to what he told me and do those things.
