Michael Harris is the "left handed Acuna" per Chipper

Wasn't it Shackleford who said he was stressed out because his sister was having a baby, and he didn't know if he was going to be an aunt or an uncle?

Sounds right - but as a Carolina fan I attribute most idiotic comments to State and Duke guys, and Bryce Harper, of course.

First question in the EL Fangraphs chat was about Michael Harris and the answer was he thought he'd be our no 1 prospect in a year from now.

Not sure how that is relative to the rest of the lists and such, but likely a top 50 guy by year end ?

As a NC State fan and two time UNC grad I can tell you UNC has zero room to cast aspersions.

Back to Harris, Chipper really shouldn't be putting comps like this on anyone. I think Harris has a great chance to be a top 100 prospect this time next year, but I don't see him shooting through the minors like Acuna. I'm not sure he can play CF like Acuna. I don't hear that unique sound of his bat like Acuna.

Guy could be a 5 WAR guy and not good enough to be a LH Acuna. Not fair.

Considering this most likely assumes Pache and Anderson have graduated, the only guy left for Harris to beat out is Waters. Since the latest FG ranking has Waters at 69, it's possible Harris could be the top prospect without being Top 50, or have a FV higher than 50.

By the time Acuna was at this stage, everyone already knew he was the real deal. Of course, Acuna got to play at this point in his career, so we will see if Harris jumps up to a 55 or better based on his age 20 season. At this point Acuna was about to tear up the A+, AA and AAA levels like Andruw Jones v2.0. If he's the LHH Acuna that's what he is being comped to.

Worth noting Eric also said the Fangraphs Braves prospect list will be our Monday or Tuesday. It’s also the most informative prospect piece on the system.

Its quite a few more people than Chipper hyping him up... including people from outside the organization. Is it fair to call him the next Acuna? Of course not. But I disagree about the sound off the bat... I've only heard a couple hard hit balls from him but they sounded pretty special to me, and all I've seen is fantastic defense and speed in the OF (granted hasn't been much). I do think he has a real shot to be an elite prospect.

could just be semantics.

I could see him being a big time prospect. I could defiantly see him as a Pache level prospect. Everyone likes Pache and some have him as a top guy. Acuna was a consistent number 1 prospect at 21 or so. Maybe consesus top 3. But everyone except long swing guy on twitter had him as a stud. We will see if he gets to the Tatis/Franco/Acuna level where everyone says this kid is a stud.

Acuña was destroying the MLB at 21.

How has Soroka looked pitching?

Good timing with your question. I was able to watch Mike Soroka throw for the first time this year while he completed a simulated game on Friday afternoon. Quite honestly, he looked normal while pitching and really didn’t show any hesitance when he needed to cover first base.

Really, his only real struggle was solving rising prospect Michael Harris. The Braves' No. 11 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, crushed a couple balls against the 2019 All-Star pitcher. But we’ll get back to Harris-mania later.

That's a crumb from Bowmans' inbox.

Don't know why you need to be defiant about it. You could definitely be right.

@GarciaDMan understands he's talking about ABs in a sim game, right?

No one's trying to take anything away from Harris here, but obviously some people need to cool their jets a little.

It's March 20th - Ozuna's hitting .227, Acuna's hitting .172 and Freeman's hitting .150. Who's ready to jump off the ledge?

Harris is a really good prospect and hopefully has as bright a future as many of us think he has, but he's had 12 ABs in spring training against Pitchers in the late innings of camp games - these aren't guys that are Cy Young candidates. He hit two bombs off Soroka - he's rehabbing from one of the two or three worst injuries a Pitcher can possibly have.

Easy folks.

I don't know clv...I don't think it's wrong to be optimistic and hyped. I just don't. I'm as prospect hungry as a few and while I caution myself, I am stoked. Not ready to induct him (Harris) into the STHOF, but I think hyperbole and excitement can be two things. I know we all agree this year will be an important step in Harris's development. I also think Pache will hold his own given consistent abs. So I guess we will see.

The only person here overreacting here is you. Easy yourself.

We heard virtually nothing from the alternate site last season, but I read a snippet from O'Brien about Harris and the Braves really like Harris' approach. They don't dislike Waters, but the comments about Harris seem to indicate that he's much more selective than Waters as a hitter and has a more refined approach to hitting. My fear is that Waters is a more athletic version of Francoeur; someone whose physical gifts are at a level that he's never had to learn the required nuance as he moves up the ladder. We'll know more about both of them as we move through the 2021 minor league season.

Francoeur without the power is a pretty terrible hitter. Let’s hope Waters is more than that.

I hope so as well. I think one of the differences between those two is that Waters likely has defensive value that might translate to being a good 4th OF. I guess I'm with Keith Law and a few others wondering about whether his BABIP holds up at their currently insane levels and what that means going forward. His K/BB ratio is really Francoeuresque.
