Hessmania Forever
It was referenced briefly in the official off-season thread, but I didn't want to gum up the more important conversation going on over there so instead I have linked the Gwinnett and Mississippi transaction pages so people can get a look at the players who have opted for minor league free agency. I'm not an expert on the rules of who can and can't declare free agency, but the rules allow for guys who have played a certain number of years (it used to be six) and aren't on the 40-man roster can declare themselves free agents.
One thing to remember here is that the player has total control. It's not like the Braves are chasing these guys away. In the X (formerly Twitter) thread that listed the players, a lot of fans made the Braves out as this heartless organization that just ruined a bunch of guys' holiday seasons. I don't know if the Braves are heartless or not, but this is all about players trying to find the best situation for themselves and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Braves re-sign a number of these guys.
