Minor League Thread Part Deux

I think one place the Braves have excelled is finding guys that for some reason or another didn't pan out in different organizations and getting quality innings out of them. In the case of Holmes, I think some of it revolved around his recovery from shoulder injuries, but Dylan Lee is another example of a guy that couldn't break through to the big leagues that the Braves have turned into a contributor. de los Santos may be another.
I would even give Monterible a nod with the addition of the new splitter.. he seems to have leveled up since then. I agree with whoever said, the Braves should keep Kranny while rebuilding the coaching staff. outside of keeping guys healthy (not sure that is his job), he has done a great job.

I did. Kranitz has to stick around. When he goes to the mound and taps them on the chest you can tell he's that guy that has the pitchers respect. Keep that dude at all costs.

I think Wentz may get a longer look seeing he has had some--though very isolated--success at the major league level. The fact that Chavez is on the roster is a real indictment on the Braves.

I'm with Hudson on Waldrep, but in what looks like it's shaping up to be a lost season, I don't know why they would bring Ritchie up. Deester may correct me seeing that he has watched Ritchie in person, but I get the impression that at this point Ritchie is a pitchability guy who needs to add a bit of strength and maybe an MPH or two to his fastball.
This is accurate when it comes to JR. Pre-injury FB velocity while good was still a little more zippy pre-injury. He and Didier are classic examples of why they need to pitch and grow in the minor league environment.

Ritchie's growth plane IMHO:
1. The breaking ball/slider - In my opinion it's good, but not as tight as it was. It can get slurve type action and seem lazy in the zone allowing it to get hit. Advanced hitters will capitalize on that.
2. The change - I love the potential of this pitch and most times it's another weapon in his arsenal. I'd like to see him have the confidence and consistency using it.

I could nitpick on the FB, but I honestly love it and if it were it 2-3 MPH faster he'd have Didier's effectiveness up in the zone. (Assuming he's not rushed and refines it's shape. Ha).

JR is close. But that close in context is just like 50 said.."pitchability." He need's to continue honing his skill in the minors a little longer.

JR will be up when AA is ready.
