Minor League Thread Part Deux

I don't think Tate's home is 2b. His arm is too good to waste at 2b. He's got a 50 grade arm, which might actually be too low of a grade. He was clocked at 99 mph from SS during pre-draft workouts. Ideally, Gil continues to hit well and gets promoted to AA next month, and then we can promote either Tate or Lodise to AA so that Tate can get everyday reps at SS.

Lodise is legitimately a great defensive SS, which is why I continually say his floor is a utility player. The defense is going to carry him to the majors no matter what, barring injuries.
I think Lodise is getting the bulk at SS bc being a college player he'll get a look a lot sooner than the other 2. Once Lodise is moved up Tate will go back to SS more than likely.

Southisene is currently running at 17% BB, 23% K and a .452 wOBA/161 wRC+ with 15/18 SB. BABIP is at .333, which is actually lower than his BABIP was during last year's brutal debut.

Limited swing decision numbers available at Low A, but He's swinging at 35% of pitches after swinging at 53% last year. He's making contact on 75% of his swings after 60% last year.

Huge progression. If the Braves hit on this pick they’ll look like geniuses. Along with Waldrep’s ascension, it would also buck the mini-trend of striking out on first-round picks (which I think was overstated anyways).

The SS position at Rome is already crowded and I don't think Gil is quite ready for AA although he's doing well.
He's dominating A+ and already spent some time at the end of last season in AA. I think he's definitely ready for the next test.

As for AA being too crowded at SS, I personally don't think Dixon Williams or Cody Miller are destined for SS. Miller has a chance but Dixon Williams is definitely going to make his living at 2b or the OF. The arm just isn't there for SS, imo.

Speaking of Dixon Williams, he got a late start to the year, but he's been hot out of the gate.

So with Gil, Soutisene, and Hartman, the Braves could legitimately have 3 Top 100 hitting prospects the next time the rankings are updated, not counting any of the 2 first round picks we might take that could be hitters. I think Tate and Gil are near locks as long as they don't go through any prolonged dry spells, given that Gil was already hyped coming into the season and Tate was a 1st round pick a year ago.

2020 is the last time we had 3 top 100 hitting prospects.
