Minor League Thread Part Deux

Yeah. They're definitely going the Dylan Lee route.

Dodd was throwing like 90-91 from what I remember those few starts he made. Shuster was throwing like 88-90.
I hadn't looked at velocity until you asked, and I was pretty shocked he was consistent 95. He could be a real pen piece as a lhp throwing that

David Fletcher played shortstop and went 0-for-3 in his first game for Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.
Fletcher, 30, tried to turn his career around by becoming a knuckleballer last year, but it didn’t take and he’s back as a position player this year. The Braves declined to invite him to major league spring training in the final year of his five-year, $26 million contract, and he opened up by going 2-for-22 at Double-A Columbus. A valuable infielder for the Angels from 2018-20, his career took a downturn in 2021, and he’s played in just 38 major league games since the beginning of 2023. He’s unlikely to add to that total anytime soon.

worth it - we got kelenic!

All the resources invested in getting kelenic woulda landed a proven veteran. If you swing as big as AA did on kelenic, you can't end up with Eli white's backup
Ehh… there weren’t many proven veterans that moved the needle. Kelenic had a chance to be a cornerstone for a decade. I also think Eli White is gonna surprise some folks though the whole year

kelenic was brought in after an historic offense. The braves didn't need the needle to be moved... they just needed solid production. That move didn't work, so it led to Profar, who probably won't work. Now we have a bunch of bargain guys in the pen bc of that move. The move was stupid, and it has turned out to be absolutely terrible

It would have led to Profar regardless. Braves had that money for one year. Instead of a 1 year rental they took a gamble that Kelenic could be a multi year solution.

I question what the org saw in Kelenic to have moved all those mountains for him. He’s only declined as a player and he didn’t even have good results at any point in Seattle. Was it just the fact he was once a good prospect?

Just a stupid move that has hamstrung the 2025 team
