Minor league thread

Someone pointed out the other day that Waters' strikeout rate seemed to be improving - not entirely sure that helps. After his latest 0-4 he's now down to a .688 OPS if you throw out the three early rehab games at the Rome where he went 4-9 with a 2B and HR.

He's beginning to get close to someone you can't even call a AAAA player if he doesn't figure something out because they're never going to promote him if they think he's going to be as overmatched as Pache at the plate.

Waters' overall numbers have crashed, but he's made tremendous improvement in k rate, 26.3% now. He's having a good day today, so maybe he's about to be on the right track

It was me, and I noted that his overall numbers crashed.

K rate down to 25.4%. Not sure if his production goes down with his k rate or he's just in a tough patch. It'll be interesting to follow.

Extreme long shot theory. Are they asking him to make more contact at the expense of power to work on pitch recognition. Then try to put everything back together.

I think they should completely pull waters out of games for a while, and go get a GOOD pitcher like Sean newcomb to pitch to him for a month.

Was 3-4 with a HR tonight.

It's uncanny how his games like last night always tend to pop up when his numbers start to completely crater. Just seems like one of two things is happening - 1.) he has a good approach and recognizes pitches once every 3-4 weeks or 2.) runs into someone tipping their pitches once every 3-4 weeks.

Rebuilding clubs will salivate over the tools, but after watching Pache's inability to make adjustments it's hard to believe anyone will even consider him a SECONDARY piece in a big trade at this point.

Jeez this is shortsighted.

I mean anyone remember when Riley was that guy?

If no one values waters, why in the world would you sell low? He's 23, so he still has a year or 2 to figure it out

Yeah but Riley had at least shown some success as he came up red hot with one of the best rookie starts in some time. Pache hasn’t shown anything and seems to be regressing more than anything.

Grissom is hitting again. Adding some power.
Surprised he doesn't get more hype, especially with a bad system.

Seems like there are a lot people that think he won't stick at SS. Bigger body, arm not great are the things I've read.

But he's still young for high A. Really good approach and eye. Seems to have great hand eye coordination. Great OBP. Starting to see some in game power.

Looks like he is going to hit. Question of defensive value (but nobody is saying he sucks on D) and power.

Pache's numbers really are staggering. Sample size concerns and all that, but man, the guy's now at 251 at-bats with a .419 OPS. I don't think even the most pessimistic among us thought that was possible. I distinctly remember thinking, "Well, all he needs to do with his defense is hit to a .600 OPS and he can still have value." A .600 OPS seems almost impossible for him now.

Eh...seen enough of him to think he can stay at SS if he continues improving. He's got a good enough arm that I've seen. I like his game a lot. Looks like he's made a few adjustments but I could be looking at him differently. I tend to not worry about him.

3 WAR player guaranteed...At least his defense seems to be as advertised

To put that in perspective, by my count 19 SP had a better OPS than that last year.
