Minor league thread

Don’t know who Gordon for Rome is but he has 10ks thru 5 with no walks or runs given up.

He’s 24 - needs to go to Double A. But he’s at least kind of interesting to me. He’s been pretty good at times since he was a top 10 round pick a few years ago.

Braves LHP prospect Jared Shuster went seven innings while allowing two runs on Thursday for Double-A Mississippi.
Shuster gave up four hits -- one of them a homer -- and he issued a pair of walks while striking out seven. The 2020 first-round selection is off to an excellent start to the 2022 campaign, and his ERA actually rose despite this strong start to 1.88 and 28/5 K/BB ratio over 24 innings. The former Wake Forest hurler’s best pitch is his change, but he also has a fastball that has touched 97 mph in the past, and a solid slider for good measure. Shuster is more high-floor than high-ceiling, but Atlanta has done wonders with this type of prospect, and he’s someone to consider rostering in keeper formats now. Better too early than too late.

touched 97? Isn't he 88-92? Threw 97 one time in college seems like a thing that author should have out of his write up now the pitcher is in AA.

I'm really excited for the Braves to draft his brother Simon.

They will be publishing history for years to come.

I’m headed to Augusta tonight. Anyone there to keep an eye on?

I’m very interested in Mezquita who is in RF… he’s always had an intriguing skill set, had a solid year last year in the GCL, and has been red hot to start the year. Durbin at SS has started hot but is probably a bit old for the level. Backstrom is still intriguing but has been boom or bust and is a K machine thus far.

Backstrom hammered a double. He’s a real athletic looking player…
