Minor league thread

This is the second time in a couple of days that he’s reported something with no backing. He’s full of ****.

Don’t know what I did to pee in your Cheerios my fine sir, but I’ll be happy to post what I read about this- lemme go look at my emails-

No - it’s an article I thought I got emailed - I read that somewhere yesterday, or maybe I’m deranged. What the hell is your problem with me anyway ?

Alright - I looked - pretty certain it was in an AJC article posted yesterday by some cat named Toscano, and he has amended his comments related to AA getting calls from multiple GMs Monday night…. OR I hallucinated it…. Very sorry for any potential misinformation. I would never intentionally mislead anyone - especially about the Braves.

It’s really difficult imaging how the Braves would pursue meaningful upgrades at the deadline.

I mean we probably dont have enough for like a Scherzer/Turner or a Machado-level deal. But guys on expiring deals, are more than doable. Waters is probably our best trade chip, but i wouldnt move him for a rental.

Nothing else else needs to be said. He’s been awful and hasn’t gotten better in 3 years. We can stop talking about him.

Buckets of baseballs are getting more expensive these days.

We probably dont have much left in the treasure chest after the Olson deal. AA could probably get a couple guys on expiring contracts that teams are trying to get rid of. But an actual impact guy, i dunno if we have enough for that kind of deal.

My question is exactly where would we upgrade? Rosario takes Heredia’s spot when he returns. Even in a platoon role Duvall has a lot of value as a 4th OF. Matzek is coming back to the pen which is already dominating. Soroka’s supposed to be back (I’ll believe when I see it) which adds another arm to an already strong rotation.

Needs will probably reveal themselves as we get closer to the deadline.

Often overlooked as well is Yates. Dude should be back after the deadline.

Typical needs are relievers, starting pitching, and bench depth

I suppose you could argue the return of guys like Matzek, Yates, Rosario, and Soroka fills a lot of those spots if everything goes right. But Cy is right. 5 weeks from now we should know exactly what we need.

We are fortunate that the one place where we do have some depth (Arcia) was behind Albies. We should expect more injuries before now and the deadline.

As strange as it seems, I still think this might be the most important name in that group.

Matzek, Yates, and Soroka will help make for incredible depth, but they're likely more "icing on the cake" additions at this point barring other major injuries. It has to be clear by now - even to the Waters supporters - that he's not going to help this team this year. He still has a TON of work to do on his approach if he's ever going to be more than Heredia with a little more pop (and even that's questionable when he sees even better pitching). Assuming Ozzie returns down the stretch this team probably still needs another LH bat in the OF, and if Rosario doesn't at least give you an acceptable option to fill in for Duvall/Ozuna Alex is going to have to go get one.
