Minor league thread

I've always wondered how Alex gets players and their agents to go along with his rosterbating manipulation.

All the "DL" stints he's used that probably weren't necessary lol.

I think about this all the time too. We never even hear a hint of a complaint from players about it. You figured something would make it to social media.

If they are still getting paid their MLB contract, not losing any service time, and the AAA park is still very close, how bad could it be?

Just for fun I wanted to see a possible 2024 AAA/AA lineup. These would both be fun teams to watch. I graduated Malloy, Conley, Mllligan, and Valdes.

Gwinette Mississippi
C Drake Baldwin (S) C Adam Zebrowski
1B Bryson Horne (L) 1B Makhi Backstrom (L)
2B Luke Waddell (L) 2B Keshawn Ogens
SS E.J. Exposito SS Ambirus Tavarez
3B Geraldo Quintera (S) 3B Ignacio Alvarez
RF Jesse Franklin (L) RF Kadon Morton
CF Kevin Kilpatrick CF Tyler Collins (L)
LF Brandol Mezquita LF Christian Jackson
DH David McCabe (L) DH Justin Janas (L)

Some roster shuffling today, promotions below…

William Silva from FCL to Rome
Adam Zebrowski from Augusta to Rome
Ian Mejia from Augusta to Rome

Owen Murphy from FCL to Augusta
JR Richie from FCL to Augusta
Ignacio Alvarez from FCL to Augusta
Cedrick de Grandpre from FCL to Augusta

Justin Militello Assigned to Rome

I am not convinced that a week or two at Mississippi is enough to make a player show-ready. So. Wow, Justyn-Henry Malloy is looking ready. But I guess promoting directly from AA would be absurd. ;-)

Nice.

But seriously if you’re a prospect and you get promoted to AAA is that really a demotion in the Braves organization

I don't think much happens developmentally at AAA anymore. AA used to be the "big step," with AAA serving as a finishing school of sorts. High minors have been getting older over the past couple of decades (I actually noticed it in the early-1990s and put in a proposal to write an article for USA Today's weekly baseball publication but was turned down) and AAA squads now look to be assembled with plug-and-play guys who are short-term solutions in case of an injury. If Albies is only out two weeks and Arcia only a week, do the Braves still bring up Vaughn Grissom? Can't prove the negative, so I don't know, but if that had been the case, you may have seen someone like Goins (who we did see) or Motter instead.
