it seems, RIGHT NOW, Fried and Strider are better than any other group out there.. which means you have to beat those guys at least once to even have to worry about who pitches game 3 and 4..

That's still debatable. Look at Spencer's last 7 game stretch. He's dominant until he's not. I like our first two guys enough...the argument was what other staff would you take, the Braves are fine..blah, blah. Take off those homer lenses and there are concerns whether you think it's short term or the playoffs.

They do concern me.. but if Strider and/or Fried crap the bed in the playoffs, then I don't think having another #3 pitcher coming in is going to save us. We need to make sure our 1-4 starters are well rested and sharp for the playoffs. what happens after that is up to the baseball gods. Which is another reason why Striders last 7 games don't look too hot. bad luck is a killer right now.

Strider's last 7 starts...
2.55 FIP
2.36 xFIP
14.39 k9, 1.99 bb9
.375 babip

Fried and Strider are as good of a 1-2 punch as any in baseball. Rest em the last month as much as you can and get ready for the playoffs. I’m not worried about the Phillies I’m more worried about the Dodgers taking home field throughout.

I agree. Braves -4.5 right now. Gotta start winning again

Yall can keep them feels all you like. I'm just saying if you're relying on or thinking that this rotation as it's performing is capable of the big prize...cool. I remain firmly in the "offense will win it for us" vs the staff will lock down the opponent. And that includes Strider and Fried. Only way to find out is see what happens.

FIP...
Fried #1 (if qualified)
Strider #6 (if fried were qualified)

Bingo. FIP isn't perfect by any means, but this board is in love with recency bias. Fried and Strider are elite, Morton and Elder are decent No. 4 - No. 5s. It is what it is.

People on this board also like to argue with the wind. Some of us are just saying there is caution with the 3-5. Not one person who isn't drinking happy juice has said different. I've stated and hold to the belief that another starter was needed. Some have made pretty good observations or thoughts that rest will be key for strider and fried. Go do something productive on days they aren't!

This team is in coast mode good or bad. If you don't think the game threads are going to be nuts, just wait. The same ones preaching sanity aren't so sane then!

I don't really care what his xWOBA is or that he just had a no hitter, I'm taking Elder over Lorenzen every day. Lorenzen is pushing far beyond his career innings limit with every start. And he's been a career reliever up until last year. I'm not buying him being an effective starter come October.

Morton has a better FIP than Walker and has an established history of being a big game pitcher.

Strahm isn't really a starter.

I'll take our rotation easily, and that is without Wright coming back.

Yeah i don’t think looking at one year of performance is the way to come to a definitive conclusion on these guys, especially the ones with a decent long career track record.
