Minor Shoulder & Urethra Issues

Our starting pitching depth last year was quite poor. We got bailed out because of Wood's unexpectedly fast development. If you compare our likely group of starters for AAA with the group we had last year, there is no contest.

:happy0157: I know it was. I said so this time last year and had everyone basically saying the same thing they are now.

I don't even understand how its a discussion at this point. We are so much better suited to handle injuries this year than last year. And, if we get another fast riser like Wood then its going to be very pretty.

And it took a freak injury to Hudson to even be an issue. Now we have better depth.

Our "depth" IS really young and unproven, at least as far as major league credentials are concerned. Guys like Wood and Hale are nice looking prospects but they really haven't proven themselves yet. And Floyd and Beachy are coming off Tommie John so there's a risk there. But overall the mgt has decided not to get any (except Freddy G) of the legion of mediocre veteran starter options out there this off season. I hope they prove to be right. But until some of these youngsters perform over a signifigent period of time the rotation should be a concern, at least relative to the other parts of the team, which look pretty solid.

When we're talking about depth in AAA it is either young and unproven or old and unproven. There are no accomplished proven major league starters down there. This is not to say they are all the same. Some teams have better depth down there than others. Ours is pretty good this year, certainly better than what we had last year.

Mike Minor is into some kinky ****.

Am I the only one that thought about which sexual acts could injure the urethra in such a fashion?

And then a 'sore' shoulder ...

Well, I'm going to pretend that this is all there is to be concerned about, because the alternative isn't pleasant to think about.

Dalyn is so negative.

We have plenty of depth, and most think Minor should be fine for Opening Day or until they need a 5th starter.

Not supposed to be a long-term thing.

And yes, essentially every team has rotation depth-issues.

Ok, i'll ask you this.

What teams have ZERO problems with their rotation after the starters, name them.

Every team does, derp derp.

And health is the only concern, our top 3 is solid, along with the others named.

Attrition starts early every spring. Already we've seen issues of varying degrees of seriousness with Iwamura, Hamels, Dempster, Jaime Garcia, Harrison. Looks like Maholm might start the season in the Dodgers rotation rather than Beckett. Have I missed anyone?

There are certainly teams that have better rotations than ours, at least on paper. The Nats, Cards, and Dodgers (not conincedentally most people's picks to win their divisions) would qualify. Do they "have questions"? Sure, but we have more.
