Aaron Northcraft lost Monday night at Mississippi, rocked for two whole runs over seven innings. This, in fact, does quality as news, as the big right-hander out of Mater Dei had won 12 of his previous 14 decisions.
A rocky AFL aside, the 6-4 right-hander has been a workhorse as he's marched steadily up the system until this year, when he was asked to repeat Double-A.
Last year at Miss., he was 8-8, 3.42, but won his final five decisions. This year, not even halfway through the season, he's 7-3, 2.84. He's worked at least five innings in every start since April 30, and over those nine starts, he has allowed 0, 1, 3, 0, 2, 0, 4, 2 earned runs -- 4-1, 1.98 in May with a strikeout per game.
