I'd say that's a huge confidence booster. That's one good start, then one incredible start. Hope he keeps building on that.

Newk will be a staple of the rotation by the end of the year. Book it.

If Folty keeps pitching like he's pitching the Braves could have a dominant power Lefty and Righty pitcher to go with Teheran and a couple of the youngsters in the future!

If he struggles at first, I just hope we're not too quick to pull the cord. He seems like he could be the type to struggle at his first look before adjusting and settling down.

He is the type of pitcher that can not be "on", and STILL have a good start because of his stuff. He'll be at least a OK pitcher to a TOR. I do t question "if" he will be a starter.

Newcomb's last start...

5.0 ip 2 h 0 er 4 bb 6 k

Last 2...

12.0 ip 3 h 0 er 6 bb 17 k

Hopefully he's about to explode

He has a easy delievery. Those big guys like that usually stay healthy, because they generate power easily (knock on wood).

He will struggle. And we need to let him. I agree with you.

I think we need Jamie to get on it and pitch better. Trade Jamie at the break or the deadline. Then let Newcombe come in and get a bunch of firsts out of the way and some experience. Because I think he's at least our 5th starter next year.
