Despite the calm demeanor and relaxed personality you'd come to expect from a Calgary native, Mike Soroka is never too aloof to be oblivious when he's heading full speed toward a milestone.
"If you don't know what's going on, I would say you're probably not paying attention," the 19-year-old said. "Guys in the dugout kept it loose, and that's the way I like it. I'm not one of those guys that has to sit in the corner when he starts."

The Braves' fourth-ranked prospect carried a perfect game into the seventh and yielded just one hit over 6 2/3 innings Friday in Double-A Mississippi's 6-1 victory over Mobile at Trustmark Park. The second-youngest player in the circuit struck out five in his first scoreless outing since his Southern League debut on April 10, lowering his ERA to 2.84.
