MINORS REPORT 4/6/18: Undefeated! Can anyone here start a streak???

Watched the G-Braves in Norfolk tonight. Soroka pitched very well even without having his command dialed in for at least the first three innings. Got groundballs when he needed them. Finally seemed to put it all together in the 5th. Sitting 93-94 on the Norfolk gun, which isn't typically hot, and touched 96 in the 5th. Very encouraging start, first time I've seen him in person.

The added velocity with Soroka takes him to the elite level. Guy is going to be a star barring injury

Newcomb better start pitching for his starting job in the next couple of months -- or he will be working from the bullpen based on the waves of talent about to appear in Cobb.

Wilson and pike pitch today. Wisler also... unlike pretty much everyone, I haven’t given up on him just yet. Doubtful fo sho

Getting closer and closer to championship baseball.

The offense is starting to show glimpses but we will have to wait another year for that exciting pitching even though folty may be showing improvement this year.

Soroka and Gohara are going to contribute significantly this year. At the major league level. If they were up right now, they would be our two best starting pitchers.

I think 2019 is the year we break through, provided AA uses our money on a big name or two.

SP right now just doesnt give the length in games and you cant consistently win games outslugging teams, but getting Camargo and Acuna up in the lineup will be yuge.

Gohara is expected to come up by the start of May as well. With him, Soroka, McCarthy, Folty if hes consistent, just need one more SP and you got something.

Not as long a shot as Newcomb, probably.

In his career (started 2005), he has thrown 150 innings 2 times (2011 and 2014). Newcomb era was 4.32 to McCarthy’s 3.98 last season. Newcomb was on pace for ~ 2.1 fWAR last season over 30 starts. He is only a 2nd year guy. No way I take him out of the rotation unless he completely blows up, which I don’t think happens

I’m in the minority I suppose who doesn’t think much of Newcomb and his 2 pitch aresenal.

You are in the majority. Newcomb is not very well thought of here. A large part of it is his bb rate (fair), but I think some of it is who we lost to acquire him (not fair)

Bryse Wilson was the starter for Florida, but Sobotka is pitching now. They had an almost two-hour rain delay, so hopefully that has something to do with it and not an injury.
