Mississippi and the Confederate Flag

have fun man. i sent the food stand info to ya in a pm

Spent a Thai new year once in Chang Mai. was a blast. get a motorbike and go up into the mountains imo

Goldfly, you are rich or really well paid for not having a job and if you do, I would be curious what you do, don't deny it. I scored tickets for flights you went on and unless you just Shatner your way to getting good prices, you must be loaded.

I make good money and my wife don't want to pay 5K for a trip to Germany. She is forcing my daughter to come to us (she makes more than me or her mom, probably combined) to see her siblings or she pays half for them to come over which won't happen unless the wife or I is coming along. Having a 5 and 7 year old going to a foreign country is a no-no without either of us. She said she will come over next year and clear her schedule to make it so to see her grandparents as well.

I wasn't supposed to say anything, but goldie is actually a well known porn actor and that's why he always has the coin necessary to make all those trips and provide us with all those cool pics.

Steve Earle writes a good song. Wonder what point he's making with all the gruntin'?

Goldy is loaded people.

I envy him. Seriously on where he can go on a whim. I want to visit every country and region on this Earth. We have a beautiful planet and if I was a millionaire, I would try to visit each and everyone one of them to see their history and customs. I like trying different things in cuisine and alcoholic drinks.

Not Muh-ssippi.
Mh-.. h is silent
Perhaps but that wasn't my experience. Things seemed to have regressed some in the 25 years I've been gone and now there's also a whole cottage industry devoted to promoting the stereotype of the most ignorant. When I have heard it pronounced that way it was mostly tongue in cheek, like the way some people say "N'awlins" or "Who'da thunk it?".

The most lowbrow accent in America surely comes from somewhere in the Appalachians. The first time I went to the Jerusalem Ridge Bluegrass Festival at Bill Monroe's house in Rosine, KY, I could barely understand the banter on stage and laughed out loud at first because I literally thought they were putting on.

All kidding aside, I really enjoy the different accents and dialects from different parts of the country.
Minnisotta and Dakoota to ' paak the cahr " to, Mh-ssisspi

Even more fascinating to me are the state to state southern accents. A person from Georgia has a noticeable clipped tone as opposed to the drawl of Alabama

Wonder why that is ? Different regions different accents

Well, you can see I'm a little sensitive about this issue. lol

You're right about state's having different accents. I grew up 11 miles from the Alabama line and when people from there came to town you could tell as soon as they opened their mouths. I'm not sure what it was specifically but it was different.

Ole Miss has a chance to finally get this monkey off it's back, no pun intended.

"Tonight is an integral night for the students of the University of Mississippi. The events that have occurred not just these past few months, but arguably for decades, have culminated to this very moment. The question tonight is, "how are we going to respond?" How are we, the representatives of the student body going to react? This issue is not simply a university issue. Its not a white issue or a black issue, either. This is a human issue, and we have a symbol that instills fear and insecurity into individuals on this campus and in this community. Our classmates, our professors, our friends and fellow Rebels feel discouraged over a symbol that flies over our courthouses, state buildings, and public institutions. If you were to walk into a courthouse that flew a flag that were oppressive to you, would you not feel as though the justice system were against you? What many of us fail to realize when approaching this issue is that there is a level of empathy needed to truly understand the viewpoints and impact that this decision has on a large portion of our Rebel family. For me, Rod Bridges, I understand the need for a change, and this is our chance and opportunity to propel this university forward by showing the world that we support a vision in which color doesn't divide, in which groups don't feel oppressed, and in which our brothers and sisters will no longer feel threatened because of this symbol. Do the political implications of this decision supersede our moral obligation to do what is right for members of our Mississippi family? How will future Mississippians see this moment? How will we be remembered? As vessels for positive change or as students that impeded the opportunity for positive change? Think carefully and think closely. Remove personal prejudice and preconceptions and take a moment to look through the eyes of the Ole Miss members around you who have been greatly affected by the current flag. When I look at this moment years down the road, I'm going to be able to tell my children that I did what was right on behalf of the students I led and represented. When you look at this moment years down the road, how will you remember it? Will you regret your decision? I hope not. Take a stand a vote in support."
