Mississippi braves

Anyone have an educated guess on who the top prospects will be there this season? I attend a good many games and would like to see a good roster

I think Mississippi will be our least exciting team of the four full-season ones. I'd guess Demeritte is there plus Max Fried and Patrick Weigel as the headliners in the rotation.

Good question. It will be some tweeners with some up-and-comers likely to make the scene in the second half.

If I had to guess, I would say the line-up would go something like this out of the gate: C-Scivique, 1B-Meneses, 2B-Demeritte, SS-Moore, 3B-Franco, RF-Godfrey, CF-Lien, and LF-Curcio. Probably some minor league FAs mixed in. Joseph Odom will get some ABs at C. Davidson may be there depending on how he has looked on the back fields this spring. Curious to see how the pitching staff shakes out. Probably Fried, Weigel, Minter and bunch of the college guys drafted in 2015 (Lewis, McLaughlin, Lawlor, and Phillips).

Didder may start there. Moore, Sivicque, and Odom would be interesting to follow as well. But yeah, it's mostly role players than future studs to follow.

I thought about Didder as well, but he may not be ready for that step. A lot is up in the air. I think Lien will be in Mississippi with Xavier Avery in CF in Gwinnett.

If Acuna is anywhere close to the hype I've been reading about him I would be willing to bet he starts in AA. The Braves have a history of moving guys up quickly. Remember Ozzie was really young for AA last year. They moved Ruiz to AAA last year after a terrible 2015 in AA

I would think it more likely they do him like Swanson who started in High A last season yet ended in the Majors. That isn't to argue that they'll fast track Acuna to the Majors this year. My point is simply that they could start him in High A and still fast track him to AA a la Swanson if he performs well enough in High A to warrant doing so.

Your projected lineup is so much better than the dumpster fire line up the M Braves were putting on the field in 14. The topguys on that team were Peraza (for a short time), Castro, Kubitz, Lipka ( was he even prospect) and some bullpen arms.

Getting the feeling that they may have little choice other than to challenge Acuna like that at this point. If he handles it as well as Ozzie did, they'd be in a position to shop BOTH Markakis and Kemp in potential deals next year.

I think you have to start Acuna in A+...not because they don't think he can already handle AA but just because he only played 40 games in A last year. I think you want to be aggressive but not irresponsibly so. No harm in starting him in A+ and then moving him up after a month or so if he is handling it without issue, which he probably will.

I think we need to keep Acuna away from RF. The position just seems cursed for uber hyped prospects after neither Heywood or Francoeur lasted 6 years with the Braves. Play him in left, I dont care if we lose defensive value over it.

Didn't Frenchy's nose dive to terrible start about the age Heyward is now? Better move Acuna to Atlanta now so they can get a few useful years out of him before he turns 27.
