MLB Playoffs Thread

Some other thoughts.

1. This is what a lot of us talk about when we say having an ace wins championships.
2. Kansas City became my second favorite team this postseason. I think they've got a bright future and could win it all here in the next couple years. Remarkable run.
3. Gotta hand it to Bochy. One of the great underrated managers in history.

10 years ago, would anybody have seriously though Bruce Bochy would be one of the greatest managers in history... and that Brian Sabean would've had 3 World Series under his belt by the time he finished?

Remember when Sabean was kind of a punchline for signing all of these old washed up vets...? Figures he found out the formula for October.

I've always liked Bochy going back to his San Diego days and wished we could have gotten him to replace Bobby. Seems like a really cool dude. I don't care for the Giants going back to the Barry Bonds days, but this group has several players I like and respect.

Braves Meme Guy ‏@Bravesmeme 3m3 minutes ago
I get the feeling someone told the truck guy that he was gonna have to go on TV about 3 minutes before that happened.

Didn't see it on TV, but my mum had it in the other room and it sounded like the most awkward award presentation I'd ever heard.

Glad to see Tim get a ring. I just wish he could have given them more.

This is just paving the way for Fredi to be the first of Bobby's protégés to get a ring next year.

fcuk the giants

more world series titles in the past 5 years than the braves have playoff series wins in the past 15

I like this thinking.

I can already see it next year.

Braves @ Royals in Game 3 of the World Series.

Ned v. Fredi

In the executive box, the camera shows George Brett, Dayton Moore, John Schuerholz, John Hart, & Bobby Cox all sitting next to each other laughing and having a beer. What you can't see from the camera angle, is John and John rubbing each other's legs and giggling.

You've got issues, boss.

Bumgarner was just out of this world for this series (and the playoffs in general. Congrats to Huddy on the ring. I am disappointed that the Royals weren't able to pull it out; but, it made for a great postseason story and one of the most fun/interesting postseasons in quite a while... even if the Braves weren't a part of it.

Is it opening day, yet?

I thought that guy was going to have a heart attack

He was so American though

He is out of breath from just speaking :lol

Congrats to the Giants and all, but this has to be by far the least impressive, most nondescript "dynasty" in major professional sports history.

2010: 92-70, 1st in division, 4th best record in all of baseball

2012: 94-68, 1st in division, tied for 4th best record in baseball

2014: 88-74, 2nd in division, tied for 8th best record in baseball

Never mind there being a 100+ win team in this run, they never had a 95+ win team, and never had a top 3 record in baseball. Don't get me wrong, I'd trade places with them in a heartbeat, just really can't get over the fact that they've managed to win 3 World Series in 5 years.

Lol.
We already knew that Madison Bumgarner saved the game for the Giants, but now the scorer makes it official. MLB changed the ace's win to a five-inning save, deciding that Jeremy Affeldt's one-hit, no-run performance wasn't "ineffective."

Easily the best picture from tonight:

Winning the world series doesn't make you the best team. It makes you the best at 5-7 game series out of the 8 teams that qualified for the division series but the best team is always the one that won the most regular season games. It's asinine to throw 162 games out the window and proclaim whoever wins 11 games in October the champions.

It would be like having a marathon for a qualified race and then the finals being a sprint. Different animals.
