MLB team valuations.

**NOT ACTUALLY RACIST
That was one of the cooler looking graphics I've seen. Not surprising to see us as a middle of the road team.

Talking chop has a very good write up about this. One of the concerning things is that the Braves are locked into their current media deal for another 14 years. With teams like LA getting RSNs and more media money pouring into MLB through those, Atlanta is going to remain a middle to bottom rung team as far as revenue goes. This is probably going to have a significant effect on our ability to keep this young core intact.

The Braves management are going to have to come up with a way to be competitive in an environment where we are looking to limit payroll.

Best case scenario for the Braves long term is to get an owner who's willing to lose some money on the team. Either in raising payroll or buying out the TV deal and starting over again. Obviously he won't lose money on the team long term as a higher TV deal raises the team's value. But Selig wouldn't let that. he purposely doesn't let guys who have cash (Cuban) get teams because he'd rather have rich people with assets as they're less likely to blow money on the team.

That's unlikely though. From a team building standpoint, the Braves need to draft and develop players extremely well. They need to be building a new core in their minors that can come in and replace the current core when the free agency money gets outlandish. I also wouldn't mind seeing them do what the Cardinals do and focus on some players who may not be as valued by other teams.

Anyone have the rankings from when Ted Turner owned the team?

They discredited the rankings from back then because of the "Kimbrel Rule" (see thread about it). LOL. TBS as a regional sports network made the Braves so popular that there literally was no comp. It's the model all the RSNs are based on today.
