It seems to me in the past teams have often tried to bend the Braves over way more than other teams in these supposed trade discussions.
Unless it was that idiot in Arizona.
I had forgotten Lester was a FA this offseason. If he doesn't require a lot, I think we should strongly consider it.
Couple bits from a column Jayson Stark just wrote:
On Jon Lester (who does say the Braves are one of eight potential landing spots for him):
Atlanta Braves: The Braves have been telling teams they can't take on money. So the $4.5 million Lester still has coming this year might be an issue. But Lester does live in Sharpsburg, Ga., in the offseason and loves the area. So this is another team that makes sense -- on that level, at least.
Also:
The Red Sox, who have talked to Atlanta about Andrew Miller, were scouting Atlanta's Triple-A club in Gwinnett Valley the past few days. So feel free to file all that away.

I heard him say it on MLBN earlier this afternoon. It was on the "Rundown."Two months of Andrew Miller has an expected surplus value of half a win. There are about 20 players in our minor league system worth that much or more. Let's get real.
By the way would anyone care to offer a link to the purported Gammons quote.
I miss Ted Turner. Now a reported excuse is we don't want to take on the money.
Thats because of Santana.
You can thank Wren for ownership not wanting to spend more. If he didn't hand out two moronic contracts ownership might be more apt to open their checkbooks. Can't really blame ownership right now.
