MLB Trade Deadline Discussion

0 walks 16 strikeouts

Headley has been awful for about 2 years now.

He had a .747 OPS last year (.150 iso) playing home games in Petco. He also played gold glove caliber defense. (fyi, 3.5 WAR)

If this is your definition of awful, how many Braves position players are >"awful?"

Unfortunately not many.

Headley's year last year was made up of a really hot September which is why he had any respectability to his offensive numbers. We all know that September results can be very misleading.

That's fine, even if you think he is terrible now and it has nothing to do with the injuries and playing at Petco.......you wouldn't trade two scrubs for him? BS

THe Headley deal is a big relief. He ain't going to Washington (or LA), and I would be truly shocked if the Yankees have enough healthy pitching to make the playoffs. Padres did well, knowing they would lose him anyway.

Headley can help the Yankees out at third base. They are very much in the hunt for the AL East crown. Good move for the Yankees.

Besides, like the Street deal this makes our upcoming 7 games with the Padres a little easier.:tchop:

But I have a prediction, and mark my words. This Cuban, Despagne, will stick the bats up the Braves collective arses. He is a beast. Pray we miss his turn.

Take it for what it's worth. Mark Derosa was going over teams that should make deadline moves. He had Andrew Miller and David Price going to Atlanta. It seemed more so that Price was something Derosa wanted to see. He did call the Samardjiza trade to Oakland two days before it happened.

Miller has been rumored to Atlanta, but now with Boston playing well, he may stay.

I never saw Price getting traded at all.

Like I thought weeks ago, there aren't many teams that are in sell mode. Colorado should be in sell mode because they are downright terrible. Trading Tulo and or Cargo should definitely be explored. They aren't winning with them anyway. They could get so much in return for Tulo too. They need pitching badly. Their offense would suffer a bit, but they still hit enough without Tulo.

If we get Price and Miller, we may very well finally get out of the first round.

To be honest I think their entire rotation(which is damn good) will shut us down. Fortunately, their hitting is so bad I believe we'll still take 3 out of 4.

Not going to start a new thread on this.

It's being pretty obvious that the starting rotation needs help.

Julio and Alex are fine. Harang has been better than anyone expected.

Ervin has been electric and he has been pretty bad. No consistency and unfortunately he's leaning towards a middle of the rotation starter. Mike Minor...enough said about him.

Now I know you can't have a staff of aces, but it's really hard to win when you have Minor starting every 5th day. Julio is a legit ace of a staff. Alex can develop into a very good number 2. Those two at the top are fine by me. Harang is a number 5 at this point and he's pitching extremely well. Ervin is getting paid like a stud, but he's flirting with back of the rotation starus right now. Minor is a 5.

We need to get at least one starting pitcher before the deadline. You can't win when you have one or two 5th starters and one or two 4th starters. Depends on how you view Santana, Minor, and Harang.

Colorado has never not needed pitching. Trading Tulo is not a good move and CarGo is not going to net them enough of a return to warrant trading him. I guess you could argue it would free up money, but to do what with exactly?

What they need is a new, bigger stadium to attract free agent pitchers to actually come there.
