MONDAY MINORS FINAL 6/25/18: Pitching poor Monday

I think -- perhaps hope is a better word -- that Gohara can be a contributor going forward, but I wasn't all that giddy about the deal either. It was a "later for a little bit later" kind of deal, but I like Smith's game. Probably a really good 4th OF on a good team and a starter on a middling-or-below team, but he's decent.

PS--I think it's safe for Avilan to come back now that Fredi isn't manager. If Fredi were still at the helm, I think Avilan would call his agent and try to get one team listed on a no-trade clause in his contract.

It's not that I was against trading Mallex. He was expendable as an asset.

My issue was with targeting yet another extremely risky pitcher. All pitchers are risky, but one with injury and work ethic concerns are especially risky.

DOB: #Braves' Gohara's early exit from Triple-A game not due to injury, I'm told. And he's scheduled to make his next start.

...no idea what that means. He have to take a dump?

Drew Waters has 33 extra base hits in 55 games. Kyle Tucker has 35 in 70 games, Eloy Jimenez has 28 in 55 games.

There are obvious difference (age, level, etc.) between him and Tucker/Jimenez as prospects, but just a glimpse into how good he has been this year.

Wow. I really haven’t been paying attention to minors as much lately. That is a lot of extras there.

I think realistically Waters has more upside than Pache.

Giving Pache five tools is theoretically possible but haven't really seen but three.
I think you need to see Pache in person. I love Waters but you're underselling Pache. His tools are very loud and he is realizing them. He's better defensively at this point. Waters is no slouch though.

Missed my chance to see him in person. I may well be underselling him.

I totally believe the defense crushes.
