MONDAY MINORS FINAL 8/7 ... Nothing to see here

Arguably he has already turned back into a pumpkin (BABIP of .300 and OPS of .686 in his last 86 PAs). But there is no bright neon sign attached to his jersey announcing "i am now a pumpkin." So it might take a while to reach that conclusion. That's the risk with playing the seemingly hot hand.

Wow, whiz... floppy... show me on the doll where dansby touched you? Your personal disdain for Swanson is obviously real and weird

Whiz = which.

Flpppy = floppy hair

It's not personal, Swanson was just really bad this year at the plate and there isn't much in what he's done so far to suggest that there is a big star in there and that's how some folks want to treat him. He should get another chance.

Maybe Camargo is Prado part 2, but once again, if you do not think Swanson is the answer, you better be shopping for a shortstop this offseason, as Camargo sure as heck is unlikely one either.

So when we trade Albies and realize that neither Carmargo or Swanson are SS''s, we've created two questions on the middle infield. Awesomeness!

My issue is that drawing a firm conclusion on either Camargo or Swanson is premature. I think the team would be well advised to go into 2018 with an open mind and give them both a significant number of at bats.

The kind of scenario I would like to see unfold goes like this:

1) Acquire a veteran pitcher along the lines of Verlander, Cobb, Lynn, Kennedy or Jaime Garcia this off-season on a contract that runs 3 years or less. Not an ace.

2) Give all three of Camargo, Swanson and Albies lots of playing time in 2018.

3) Make an evaluation in July 2018 about the needs the team has as far as positional players go.

4) Start acquiring position players around next trade deadline, possibly using any pitching surplus we have at the major league level as guys like Soroka, Gohara, Allard and Wright move up.

Camargo has been a nice surprise. But the label "unproven" should be the one the FO sticks on him this off-season.

This is a D@MN good plan. Don't do the yo-yo thing, figure out what you have. Which is what we should be doing in a lost season. Even at this point, let them show you what they are. In a full season at AAA (last year and all of this year), Albies has been consistent and shown what he could do in the minors. How about the same amount of time in the majors before selling him off? Number 2 and 3 is vitally important.

I like your plan because I don't see any part of it that screams trade our surplus of pitching just yet.

I'm not sold on Swanson, but I think I would be devastated if we traded Albies in favor of Camargo. There is a non-zero chance Albies could become Altuve which would be a huge blow. I think his floor is still the best leadoff hitter we've had since Furcal.
