Near the end of today's hearing, Virginia's lawyer asked if the state had to restore registrations even if it believed someone isn't a US citizen. Judge countered that under VA's program, the state didn't have proof of citizenship status. "I'm not dealing with beliefs," she said, "I'm dealing with evidence"

These people self identified as non citizens. Lol

It’s in the details folks

I was guessing, but after looking it up many of those people became citizens between when they got a DL and the election. Same thing happened in Texas in 2019. State SoS says 95k illegal aliens registered to vote. 25k had become citizens in that time. Theres nothing wrong with people registering to vote while waiting to become a citizen. If they vote before becoming a citizen then by all means prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. I am just not seeing any evidence of that happening anywhere. I dont know that its rationale to fear illegals voting when no one can cite me where it has happened before. If someone wins a key state by 5 votes then yeah, maybe its something we should look at but if someone wins by 10k votes theres not 10k illegal aliens voting in any state. Especially not a red state.

There are people who think they are indigenous and not citizens despite being born here. Look up Sovreign Citizen movement,

That's fine. But government documents have to be filled out correctly. And it's not the governments job to cater to every single individual. You wouldn't get a driver's license either if you mistakenly listed that you were blind. The onus is on the citizen to fill out forms correctly.

Where Virginia ran afoul of the law was in not adhering to the 90-day quiet rule.

Judge Giles ruled that the state is not completely prohibited from removing noncitizens from the voting rolls during the 90-day quiet period, but that it must do so on an individualized basis rather than the automated, systematic program employed by the state.

So then there's is no actual real issue in regards to voter suppression, and all of this is just grandstanding from the Dems.

I am completely shocked.

Seems to me there is grandstanding from both parties. Youngkin could have done this oh 6 months ago. Now he's got his panties in a wad and threatening to go to the Supreme Court.

The last group I care about are sovereign citizens. They make Garmel look like a legal scholar. The real issue is that some of those people may not have been citizens at the time of getting their DL and have since become citizens. There is undoubtedly some people on the list who are citizens that would be disenfranchises by the purge. It makes more sense to review after voting and remove any that aren't citizens rather than throw the baby out with the bathwater. There's no evidence to suggest that there would be a meaningful amount of non citizens voting if they don't so the purge .

Will be interesting to see how the Supreme Court disposes of this case. I assume Virginia will appeal.

It doesn't matter. I am a natural born citizen and my linage in America can be traced back to one of the many trips of the Mayflower in bringing over pilgrims.

If I fill out my voter registration incorrectly, I can't vote. It's as simple as that.
