MORE ROY

Holy **** Alabama!!
Look at y'all doing the right thing!!

Congrats to y'all and the country

Possibilities this begins a turn of the state? Not right away obviously but will Alabama be less 'red'?

There will be damage for the Reps all over from Moore and the Dems are doing a lot of local organizing. How much? Probably not that much but only a little sometimes makes a big difference.

Absolutely not. Alabama will always be a conservative State. The Republicans had their worst candidate possible in this race.

Yeah, I'd say hell no. I can't see them not pulling the seat back in 2 years.

It does point to the pitfalls of one-party rule (the chain of circumstances that led to the Strange/Moore primary) but this was an energized D electorate & a competent candidate vs a poor candidate (carrying some unusual baggage). It does mean you can't take anything for granted, anywhere, in those circumstances.

Several factors resulting in this upset tonight:

The ground game of the Jones campaign
The alleged stories of Moore’s harassment of young girls
The perception of Moore’s views that some call extreme
Steve Bannon
Senator Richard Shelby’s comments stating he was not voting for Moore
Democratic enthusiasm
Lack of enthusiasm among many Republicans for Moore
More than 21,000 write in votes

Would a deep blue state do what Alabama did tonight given the same circumstances? Something to think about. A lot of folks on the left dismiss the conservative south as simpleton moral hypocrites. I hope this helps lead to a renewed respect from those on the left in regards to southern conservatives and I hope they're more willing to consider our arguments and consider maybe that southern conservatives take morality more serious than was thought? Trump might have a rough time winning Bama next election if the left respects the conservative south.
