Morosi: Braves interested in Machado

The more I think about it, the more I kinda hope we don't get someone to be a strict platoon with Camargo and get someone versatile enough to give him spot starts almost everywhere. Just someone who can come in and give us an upper echelon bench bat. Then maybe as an occasional platoon with Camargo. I like what I've seen from Camargo and I want to give him every opportunity to prove he can hit righties and be an everyday 3rd baseman. With that said, there is no doubt that we need some help on the bench. I just hope it comes from someone that isn't going to cut in to Camargo's at bats too much. I'd still like to see him get 200 more plate appearances this year. I was highly skeptical of him last season, but this new revelation that he might actually have some power and plate discipline could vault him from super utility to bonafide starter territory.
the complementary players I have interest in are Solarte, Dietrich, and Asdrubal Cabrera

reddit has more talk of Machado for SS and trading Dansby.

I know Machado has been having a terrible year defensively, but he's been good at SS defensively in the past.

When I want seriously intelligent baseball discussion, I often go to reddit to find it.

That was sarcasm.

Let’s call it “highly unlikely” that the Braves trade away a young SS in order to make room for a 2 month rental

I do not want to trade anyone real for a rental.

I'd like to deal out of the Wisler, Sims, Demerrite, Rio, Graham level of guys for a rental. With the buyer's market, that should be enough.

With Folty, Newk, JT, Fried, Soroka, Gohara, Allard and Wright we will deal some of those guys. But I think and hope we will keep our powder dry for a legit, multi-year option.

I don't necessarily have a problem trading Dansby in the right package. But not before the end of the year. However, such a deal would have to bring back a legit superstar like Arenado.

Always nice to see you come around every so often with some true nuggets of wisdom.

Gotta keep the fanboys around here on their toes. Fielding a quality team this season has made you guys feel way too good about yourselves. :elefant:

If I had ample confidence the Braves could sign Machado in the off-season, I’d be all for trying to trade for him. But I’m not, so I’m not all in. I’m still for working on the bullpen first.

If the dodgers are offering Verdugo, Alvarez, and another prospect (probably Dustin May), this board would have a melt down if we beat that price

It said that the packages offered are all pretty close in price. A Machado/Britton deal would help out a ton. But the package to get them would suck big time

As if anything that guy hears is actually true.

Still it makes sense for the O's to trade him sooner rather than later.

You never know if you trade for him. Paul George was never thought to sign back with the Thunder and did, because he said “They went out and traded for me and that showed how much they wanted me”.

On the flip side....I am not for the trade...at all. Too much to give up. It does make me think though.

According to the source, neither Verdugo nor Alvarez were offered. Considering Alvarez was only on one top 100 list pre-season and the Dodgers are considered to have the top offer currently, I'd venture to say that none of the offers are of the Kings ransom variety.

What I don't want to see is him go for practically nothing like Herrera and the Braves not getting him. That would really suck
