Movie Thread

Eye in the Sky is worth a ticket. As I read in a review of the movie, this is a subject that should be receiving attention in the presidential election debates on both sides of the ideological ledger. The movie gets a bit clunky at points and the ending is kind of what you expect to happen, but it's a very solid depiction of how decisions are made at the highest levels of government and what the effects of those decisions might be.

So Bats vs. Supes has been getting pooped on by the majority of viewers.

I loved it though.

"Love" is a little strong for me, but Mrs. 50# and I both enjoyed it. I thought the first part of the movie clunked along until it got going, but once it hit its stride, it was a pretty good action flick. Affleck has been the target of a lot of scorn during his career--some of it deserved--but I thought he was a good choice as Batman. Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor was a truly inspired choice.

I'm a Batman mark though so that's why I loved it.

I understand why people are ragging on it. The editing was very poorly done and a lot of scenes got cut too early. I read Snyder is releasing a Director's Cut so I hope that's better just like his Watchmen cut.

I also understand why people thought the first hour was boring but they were trying to establish and bridge two character universes together.

Batfleck was very good. I understand why Snyder chose to do this type of Lex, because every other major character was more low energy and relaxed until they got angry. Lex was eccentric every time but I just can't get Eisenberg's voice out of my head it's that annoying just like Zombieland.

As a Batman and comic fan I loved this movie. Also minor shoutout to Jeremy Irons who played an excellent Alfred.

Without seeing the full movie, it seems like Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor was much more close to the Riddler/Joker than Lex Luthor.

I liked the movie but I can understand why the critics are tearing it up although sub 30% on RT is a little harsh. The editing was bad, the story was incoherent, and a lot of stuff felt rushed. Not to mention the first hour was super slow. What saved it for me was the fact that it was Batman and Superman and I'm a comic nerd. Plus the action scenes were pretty epic.

Apparently I'm in the minority, but I really enjoyed Batman v Superman. Affleck is my favorite Bruce Wayne, and I'm looking forward to a standalone Affleck Batman movie.

Watched "The big short" over the weekend. I know its been out a while, but a solid movie. It wasn't riveting as much as it was informative. I had no idea about much of that stuff. Steve Carrells group were the stars of the show for me... when they went down to that development and started knocking on doors, then showing the same guy they found renting living out of his car... good stuff. Really good.

Enjoyed Bat V Supes, but wish it had been broken up into two movies. Fight scenes were great. But I thought it was pretty dumb and unnecessary to the plot for Lois to drop the spear in the water, just so that 5 minutes later she could be like "Oh ****, I could probably use that now."

Best part about 10 CLoverfield Lane is Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Watching her crawl through an air duct was oddly satisfying.

Force Awakens is so classic. Abrams gives so many quality nods to both Star Wars and other films.

Really wish the scene with Kylo Ren on the Falcon was in the final film as to me it was a powerful scene.

Am I missing something? Or was this a deleted scene?

Star Wars Rogue One trailer drops tomorrow. Gonna be a big movie but we all know how it ends....

Good trailer I thought. I loved the lowering of the death star laser and the AT-AT's on the beach. I imagine we get Vader in the full trailer.

And while we know how it ends we don't know the specifics.
