Movie Thread

Saw Birdman, don't really know what to think. I think parts of it were brilliant other parts were a little rough. I really digged it at the start and it just kind of went down from there to lots of kind of open and untangled threads.

Been processing this one for some time. I don't get the hype around Frank. It's quirky and enjoyable, but some people really went bonkers on it. I mean Fassbender is great in it, I overall enjoyed it, but don't get the love that some people have for it.

It took the second time for me watching it for everything to click. It's pretty good, not the best though.

I liked it a lot. It's more than worth the cost of the ticket. I thought the drumming was exceptional. I don't mind movies that leave me leaving with a question in my mind.

Anyway I don't think Emma Stone was at all deserving of best supporting actress. What a flat performance overall. Ed Norton certainly deserves a nod, as does Keaton.

It's in my top five of the year probably. Agree on Keaton and Norton. They carried the movie. And I was also a fan of the drum score.

After seeing it a second time, I have a pretty good idea of what happened at the end, but I like that it was left open-ended.

Birdman has now taken over as frontrunner for Best Picture and Director. At first glance it doesn't seem like something they'd go for. But then it would be three times in four years a movie dealing with Hollywood in some way has won.

So Marvel (Disney) has partnered with Sony to bring Spiderman into the MCU with another reboot of the character. Marvel will co-produce the new Spiderman movies and he's slated to show up in Civil War. **** just got real.

Yep.

I will say that if we don't see Peter Parker... I don't know much about the Miles Morales, but I am growing on the idea of a Black version of Peter Parker. The Peter Parker story itself can work with a black teenager in this day and age. Matter a fact, it's almost too perfect of an idea especially in 2015.
Instead of him being a nerdy student, have him be a teenager on the crossroads going back and forth on whether to be a good student or go with the thug life with his bad influence friends in school.

You can still keep the he lives with his Uncle Ben storyline, because it frames perfectly with one of the modern struggles of the black family and that is a fatherless child. You can easily say his parents especially pops just upped and left when he was a kid and his Uncle Ben and Aunt May have been raising him ever since. Uncle Ben can be a character that marched in the Civil Rights Movement, and he's seen the worst of humanity... and he doesn't want Peter to just throw away the progress Uncle Ben has helped fight for.

Let's say Peter and his gang friends are getting into trouble, Uncle Ben catches him, brings him home, and chews him out and lectures him on not throwing away his future for the thug life and to help other people (great power comes great responsibility). Peter chews him out with the you're not my father thing. Part of Peter's initiation into the gang is to steal something from a rival gang... before Peter does this his Uncle Ben whom went looking for him finds him and stops him but it also alerts the rival gang of their presence, and they start firing bullets at Peter where UNcle Ben takes the hit. Peter seeing his Uncle die right there, throws away the thug life and the rest is history....

I'm thinking Andrew Garfield is gone. Marvel hated him from reports I read. I'm really hoping for Donald Glover for Spiderman. Make it happen Marvel! Uncle Ben already sounds liek a black guy anyway.

If they do a black Spiderman it would be Miles Morales which could be interesting. I doubt they do a black Peter Parker. This isn't FOX and the ****ty Fantastic Four.

As long as it's Donald Glover, I don't care. But the idea of Donald Glover playing a Blerd just gets me too excited. Have Uncle Ben be a heavy makeuped Donald Faison
