Muller On Mound- Game Day Thread- 7/21

I was one of the several folks fine with not re-signing Greene. He has shown why, and then some, sadly.

To be fair, he doesn't have that many good options....

Right. Snit is not a rocket scientist, but it's not like you've a bullpen that could have been deployed properly and hasn't been. As Chopdrew says, fresh squeezed, locally sourced organic ass juice. There's no way to polish this turd.

When a team loses a 6-8 win MVP candidate, a 3-4 win middle of the order bat, a 2-3 win everyday catcher, and a 3-4 win rotation anchor, it is going to be nearly impossible to compete for much of anything. That's 15+ wins taken away from a true talent ~90 win team.

Yep. Tough year.

Agree. I kinda wish the mets weren't keeping everyone in it.

I feel like this is the snakebit year. You take your lumps. Spin off some guys (not FF if we are really going to give him a real offer, not a Marte 3/30 fish offer). Get a better pick. Get some guys in the system. Play some young guys down the stretch. Be gentle on Anderson, Fried etc given last year messing up pitching schedules. Get more information on guys like Contreras, etc who you may want to be major guys next year.

Do everything you can to maximize 2022 and 2023. This year ain't it.

This is exactly where I’m at. This would be a great year to sell off all of our expiring pieces, get some interesting fliers back in return to help the lower parts of the farm system that really need it, and just turn our attention to next year. The Mets and Phillies being so average has been frustrating because it won’t allow that to happen, and there’s not really much good that can happen for us the rest of the way.

watch us win 4/5 from the mets, buy and then lose 7/10 and finish the year at 500.

I will still say this. Hanging around the division race has at least given us the chance to continue to draw fans at a very high rate. And we all know the organization desperately needs that revenue.
