Muller

So...if reports are true about him living in the 80’s...when do they maybe switch him to a hitter. If I remember right , he was also being looked at as a hitter in that draft (because he could mash).

I have heard nothing about moving him back to hitting.

The rumors I've heard is arm fatigue due to overuse in HS. This is probably the year he has to show it or else they look to pen or maybe consider hitting.

Yeah, basically saying after this year “if” he is still looking the same.

I wouldn't hate on a 20 y/o 6'5 guy who hit 400 with some power in HS. I think he was an OF. I have not heard anyone else suggest a change but maybe it will if he can't get the velo up.

It's pretty clear by how the other pitchers moved that the Coppy guys were way down him compared to his peers.

I think he has promise even if it’s not the pitching path. Sure seems like a big kid like that would add velocity though!!

Just because a guy hit in high school doesn’t mean he’s a hitting prospect.

No, but there were teams scouting him as a hitter (not a pitcher). In fact he showed a lot of promise as a hitter. Just like some teams were interested in Riley as a pitcher. If he turns out to be a bust as a pitcher...why the heck would not at least try him out??

Huh. Hitting in high school is exactly what makes a hitting prospect. If he hit .400 with power then he would be a hitting prospect.

Lol every high school baseball team has a guy that hits .400 with power. Almost none of them are professional prospects.

Great.

That doesn’t contradict anything I wrote.

I couldn’t care less if Muller can be a low probability hitting prospect.

I am just saying in the event that he is a bust as a pitcher and the only other option is to release him...let him have a go at hitting first. What’s to loose? He is a big dude.

Totally agree.

I was just poking fun at Matt for saying a kid who hits .400 in high school is a hitting prospect.

Ha...you are pretty much right. I hit .380 in high school, but on a average team against average competition. I remember a write up somewhere about Muller winning a HR derby and how impressed his coach was at how he was launching them (when he hadn’t even been working on hitting).

Looked to be two decent breaking balls to start. A LHP that can touch 95 is nothing to sneeze at. Gotta be a good sign he is generating some buzz this spring.
