Murphy War Crimes

What is the benefit of starting Murphy 4 out of every 5 games right now? There isn’t one.
There is a benefit to resting him often though.

I simply don’t believe Snit will be allowed to split the time at catcher in the playoffs. But I can’t figure out why it matters that they’re splitting time right now.

We aren't talking about Murphy starting 4 out of every 5 games. He just sat 3 of 4. At this point I'd be thrilled if he was getting 3 of every 5 games.

I'm with you as long as it comes to an end in about a week or so. Murphy should be ramped up going into the playoffs but I agree that keeping him fresh is the most important thing. TDA getting extra reps in September will have little impact on the course of our regular season.

However I also can see the concern with the current trend. If you believe that TDA is becoming the number 1 catcher then obviously that's the wrong move and is an issue.

Basically as long as Murphy is playing the vast majority of the playoff games then everything is fine. If that's not the case there's a problem.

Murphy can’t get hot if he isn’t getting consistent at bats. If in 2 weeks this is still going on then Snit needs to be called into the office for a chat. TDA may be a good dude and a clubhouse leader but Murphy is the C of the future here and should be treated as such.

I cant even sugarcoat what's going on with Murphy. No reason TDA should be getting this much playing time.

Man- you guys gotta trust that the organization which built the greatest baseball team in the entire history of our franchise knows what the hell they are doing. There is a very simple reason why Murphy is playing the amount of time he is. I suspect it’s simply saving him for October and letting him play just enough to stay sorta fresh. But I’m probably wrong- it’s probably something medical and they can’t talk about it.

Regardless, it isn’t like Snitker is doing this without the consent of the FO and our army of analysts and etc.

Snit is dumb. I don’t think he’ll be allowed to be *that* dumb come playoff time.
Comparing the Braves situation to any other team’s doesn’t make a ton of sense. No other team has a guy like TdA backing up their long-term, star catcher.
Murphy is stronger in every facet of the game. I trust that the Braves know that and will act accordingly when it really matters.

Albeit a double header today, still funny that TD is getting the early game start, his 4th start in 5 games. Knowing Snit, that sets-up Murphy for the evening game so that TD can "rest" tonight" and be ready again for tomorrow to resume his role of starting catcher.

If Murphy including tonight doesn't start the next at least 2 in a row, then honestly this is beyond getting out of hand.

I think it is sort of standard across baseball to rest your catcher in a day game (usually after a night game).. but I think TDA today makes perfect sense. Tomorrow will be the tell.. I think it goes TDA Tuesday/Murph Wednesday. This doesn't mean TDA is the starter, just that Twit thinks both guys are just as 'really good' and wants to get them equal playing time.

It's not going to affect the season one way or the other, but it is puzzling. I wish the beat writers would ask that question, because perhaps there's something we don't know.

It will if TD starts in the playoffs. His OPS might just be below 700 by the end of the season...

This, I wish we had good beat writers who would ask hard questions.. not wonder what the buffet is featuring.

So TDA is the starting catcher.

It would appear that way.. but I guess we will see in our 3 game series.. Twit will always give each guy 2 games in a 4 game series. I think it is still a straight 50/50 for what ever reason and Twitner just forgot which sharpie card to turn in on game 1 of the pit series..

How can anyone deny this is now code red. It’s not even a platoon. 5 out of 7! It’s inexcusable shockingly offensively bad

Travis fits better with Fried because not too many guys can steal with Fried’s pickoff move. Sean should get the other 4 starters with an occasional extra day off
