Music from the 70's

Having now lived through several decades of music, the 70's still and always will hold a dear place in my heart. Listening to these old tunes makes me feel young again. If you also love the music of this era, share your favorite tunes here.
 
I know it's an old fogey thing to say, and I'm not that old (born in early 80s)... But they don't make music like that anymore.

I feel that way about 60s and 70s music..

I've listened to some modern independent artists who've made new 80s music thay sounds convincing as if was made in the 80s.
 
So much great music from this time. Even the disco was still real, but this ain't disco. I was only 10 or 11 when I heard this and it moved me so much. I'm still a sucker for a good ballad.

Being in my early 60s, I grew up with music from the 1960s onward. Growing up in a relatively isolated location, the AM radio was my window to the world in a lot of ways. When the wind was blowing just right on some evenings, my brothers and I could pick up stations from such far-flung (at least from Minnesota) burgs as Oklahoma City (KOMA), Little Rock (KAAY), and Chicago (WLS). But the biggest treat was when on the rare occasion, we could somehow pick up WDIA out of Memphis. My introduction to the Memphis sound coming out of the Stax/Volt factory. I always preferred that earthy sound to the more polished Motown product.

I think both have amazing hits. Although if I had to pick one, it's probably 60's because I'm biased to crooners like Sinatra, Monro, Mathis, Bennett, King Cole, etc. Of course everyone knows the Beatles too.

After all these years, I've listened to this song hundreds of times. I still can't figure out what this song is about metaphorically, lyrically, spiritually... I know that when they wrote this song, they were high and indulged on a ton of cannabis. Still a great song.

 
I saw Little Feat live back in that era. Tremendous musicians with an inimitable style. Warm-up act was The Tubes. Odd pairing, but great show nonetheless.
 
70s were agreat era in some regards. I think the 70s represent the peak of Hard Rock. Zeppelin's later stuff, Sabbath, AC/DC, The Who, Aerosmith, Queen, etc. the bands of that group who survived the 70s weren't quite the same afterwards. AC/DC burst onto the scene with Back in Black, but their earlier stuff was way more rocking and awesome. Post BiB everything sounds just about the same. The Who released 2 albums in the 80s (after Moon's death) and they both suck compared to the rest of their discography, Aerosmith for sure peaked in the 70s, after that they had a few scattered hits but when people talk about Aerosmith they think Sweet Emotion, Dream On, etc. Not Cryin or Crazy. Queen kept on being awesome but got less hard.
 
There's just something surreal watching this. The choreography of dancing and singing, the clothes and attire. It just screams 70's. In the Philippines, a lot of popular music from the 60's and 70's, are still top hits there today. Before my folks came to the States, music like this was so dominant on the radios there. Thus, I grew up listening to a lot of these groups and singers.
