Ok. So let’s say that you warmed up Greene and minter and the game is now 7-1. You don’t want to sit them and then bring them in game 2 after cooling down. You are saving Matzek, Martin and MM for tomorrow.
Twit: Well bring them in and hope the best for game 2
Competent manager: sit them. Bring in Weigel or who ever. New plan. Minter and Greene are now my tomorrow saved since they warmed and now I have Martin and MM for game two. Matzek still saved too.
I don’t think Twit has the ability to quickly alter a plan. He can literally only handle the very basics of a task.
The fact that he still thinks acuna is great because he is a leadoff hitter is a prime example.

Winnable game.Many bad decisions, but the one that killed me was Smith once again giving up a homer in after we.had.just.tied.it. He is paid big money to get outs.
Wiegel sucked , but I am amazed that Snit put him in. I think he was his coach in AAA right. He might have actually had faith in him. Bad call...set him up to fail.
...as for Culberson? 5th starter?

Mlb debut or not you should be able to throw the ball over the plate. But that is the Braves development staff in a nutshell. Throw the ball around the plate and hope they swing.
Managers win more games by how they handle the clubhouse than their in game decisions. I truly believe that.
Braves have a comfortable lead, a really talented team, and 1 day off the rest of the way. It's going to be ok.
I mean even if that’s true it’s not unreasonable to expect a MLB manager to be able to do both.
The overriding problem is - as has been mentioned - while he continuously keeps referencing the "big picture" he seems to be completely incapable of understanding what that means.
He's trying to "protect" a bullpen that (if you look at it within the context that our rotation completely imploded early on) is far from overworked. AA's continuously working the shuttle to keep the pen completely stocked with fresh arms. We're 38 games in and Greene leads the pen in IP with 19. That means our most-used late-inning guy is being used every other day (81 IP in a regular year), which is FAR from being overworked. Greene is the only guy that needs to be treated with kid gloves right now because he's been used 3 of the last 4 days. Other than that, he's only gone on back-to-back days twice this year. O'Day is being used about once every 3 days. Melancon about once every 3 days and he's only gone on back-to-back days 3 times. Minter has been lights-out and has only gone back-to-back once (8/1 and 8/2). Smith is struggling mainly because he needs work - start using him in the middle innings and hold Minter back as your late-inning lefty until he gets straightened out.
I have to assume Snitker has been told that he's about to get Hamels, Wright, and maybe Folty back in the rotation since the rest of the world has been told, meaning you're about to have Erlin and Tomlin as pen options while Ynoa jumps back on the shuttle with Sobotka, Touki, Wilson, and Weigel AND you've still got Chacin and Rusin down there if you don't want to use the kids and somebody's "worn out" from all the excess work they've been getting. We still haven't heard the first peep about Walker - if you need veteran arms in the pen, transfer Walker to the 60-Day IL and DFA Culberson to create 40-Man spots for them, then DFA one or both of them when you add Hamels and/or Folty.
Camargo can't hit water falling out of the boat, yet until he pitched last night Charlie hasn't appeared in a game in two weeks - if that's not a waste of a roster spot, what is? Use it for one of the RPs rotating on the shuttle.

I don't dispute what you're saying in the least. I just thought the change in thinking from Game 1 to Game 2 stuck me as inconsistent. In fairness to Snitker, when you can't depend on anyone except Fried to give you more than four innings as a starter, it's like juggling chainsaws.

Well obviously Snit doesn’t manage every game like it’s the deciding game in a playoff series. If he did we’d have never won a game.

Yeah, I don’t know about that one, chief. But it’s fair to say Snitker’s decision making yesterday was highly suspect.

Yes yes managing a marathon vs managing a sprint. Obviously over the course of a season people get games off. Still you don’t throw away easily winnable games.

This season as a whole and the fact you are playing the worse team in your division and the one team in your division with probably the best rotation breathing down your neck at least should prompt some viable thought going into your decisions. Knowing this team is known as a late inning champion should enter into your decision making. Weigle and Culberson should have at least been saved until a desperate moment.
Braves are going to be ok. Their schedule is cake.
